BlackBerry Bold Gets Approved by FCC
BlackBerry fans here in the US will be happy to learn that the BlackBerry 9000 aka Bold has just passed through the FCC testing process and received its approval. It has been quite a ride with the Bold dating back to October when we first broke it and even further back to January 2007 when we started telling you about the 90xx series. Now we’re likely just over a month away from a release and the only remaining question is whether or not people are still excited about it. Sure we all already know the specs but a quick highlight recap:
- Quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)
- Tri-band UMTS (850/1900/2100) with HSDPA support
- WiFi
- 480 x 320 pixel display
- New UI including full-HTML browser
- 1500 mAh battery
So there you have it. We’re closer than ever to a release; which by the way should happen on AT&T in mid August according to our sources. We’re almost there people - think it’ll warrant any iPhone-esque lines at AT&T stores?

great news, can’t wait to get my hands on one! I’m excited about the storm/thunder black berry, but I’d like to learn more about it, whether it will support multiple gestures and how intuitive it will be for the user. All in all RIM is paving its way!

Its cleared, its done and its coming in about 30 days. This is good news to me, now if AT&T + RIM = BB Bold mid August then great.

I can’t wait for the Bold. Though if it is constantly being delayed- they will loose me.
I have been without a cell for over a month now because mine died while moving.
I am this tempted to just crack and get an iphone since it does not seem to be locked to rogers with their never ending blocking/red applications.
Hopefully the Bold will be the same as the iphone (no visible blockings from Rogers) otherwise, unlocked version will be bought.
