Are you really serious?

Like, for realz? You’re going after the kid right now? The Bold-breaker? Javelin-leaker? Thunder-scoopster? Kickstart-poster? I’m not even going to get into too many details but I will respond to a couple of the more stupid questions and insinuations posed. First off, you’re saying one of my AT&T sources gave me information on the Thunder, right? Because that makes so much sense. You know, a device which very few people have had access to, being used by someone who works for AT&T. If you haven’t heard by now, it’s coming to Verizon. Idiots. But what about time frame BG? “IT’S COMING OUT IN AUGUST!!!” What did I tell you when I broke the Thunder story? November. What’s 4-5 months from now? November. Oh, ok. Secondly, my source is a source I would trust 100x over almost anybody else. Not going to give too much away to protect him, but let’s say they work for RIM and has helped BGR out a ton in the past. Sorry guys, but we don’t regularly cite commenters as our “high-up sources.” Lastly… the iPhone fanboy accusations. Maybe you haven’t noticed, but 65-70% of our readers are BlackBerry fanatics, and we’re the world-leader in BlackBerry news. I didn’t want to get into this, but if you’d really like to, go add up all your “exclusive” BlackBerry stories and let’s see how many were correct. Then add up mine. Go ring-a-ling that bell somewhere else, because I don’t play games. I bring factual heat.

P.S. Please stop using the term ninja. Ninjas are people who risk their jobs and livelihood for your site and your readers, not people who comment on your blog.

    BGR: Comments like this make you look like an immature, insecure, and reactionary person. You have great info and don’t acknowledge people when you know better.

    BG – can you clarify the Thunder ship date. You say in all caps that it’s August, but then right after say November. Maybe I’m missing the sarcasm in one of them, but I’ve reread it a few times, and just don’t get it.

    That said, I 100% feel you here, and respect you for standing up. Even if you are wrong occasionally, who cares? No one is 100% right all the time, so I think getting it as right as you do as often as you do is all we can ask for. The site is useful and informative (plus fun to read). Nuff said.

    One more thing (so not nuff said, I guess) – love how they say something about Engadget being better. Engadget rocks, for sure, but lots of their cell phone stories come from you, so how can someone say they’re better than you? It’s like this – my buddy is a DJ. I’ve filled in for him a few times at a bar he DJs at when he had another gig. I played the music he gave me. Some people came up and were like, “Oh, you play such better music than the usual guy.” I laughed.

    Although I HOPE you are wrong and the Thunder touchscreen will be the Shiznit… you are spot on about the stupidity. Anyone questioning your general accuracy is insane! This is a blog after all, almost entirely dependent on rumors and inside info. Not everything will pan out exactly as originally reported, but you are closer than most. I love me some BB, but I’d rather them do it right the first time (which they usually do). Keep up the great work

    @Dante:
    That’s because some people are idiots. They use the internet comments to boast their popularity and make up for other physical shortcomings. If BG were to come right out and say I was an asshole, I wouldn’t feel bad or insulted. I am an asshole, I know it and I act accordingly: On the internet and in real life. If you were one of the people called an idiot, then you most likely are an idiot. Don’t feel bad, they have remedies. Beating yourself in the head with a Clue-x-4 usually helps. So what if 40 or 50 people just stop reading BRG? This site probably gets 40 or 50 THOUSAND readers daily. If your trying to fuck BGR because you got called an idiot, leaving would be paramount to throwing a hot dog in a hallway.

    @Boy Genius:
    I enjoy your site. Keep up the good work.

    A classy, mature, and well-reasoned post that makes every effort to avoid alienating the readers and commenters (who ultimately are responsible for BGR’s paycheck).

    I think BGR’s entry is completely warranted. People need to be called out for theit stupidity. What these jokers need to realize is that the techies in R&D and the suits in marketing are often NOT on the same page. Marketing always wants to get stuff out the door and engineering always wants to wait till it’s perfect. Trust me, I used to be one of those marketing suits at a silicon valley tech company.

    Perhaps BGR’s ninja is someone in R&D who isn’t too happy with the current prototype of the Thunder. That doesn’t mean that the source thinks the final product will suck. Just means RIM is holding it back till they can fix the problems. Use your brain ppl.

    Haha the BB fanatics have got ol’ BG all riled up. Quote: “Lastly… the iPhone fanboy accusations. Maybe you haven’t noticed, but 65-70% of our readers are BlackBerry fanatics, and we’re the world-leader in BlackBerry news.” Of course you have great BB coverage and have got some great leaks. But when reading your articles you do come off as an Apple fanboy. Just because your a good source of BB news doesn’t make you any less of an iPhone/Apple fanboy. The rest (AT&T crap, etc.,) is all bullshit of course.

    What really cracks me up, and BG I bet you’re laughing too, is the fact that some of the people reading this post and comments have no clue that he’s referring to that moron over at Crackberry, not his own readers. Granted, some of the readers on the first Thunder post do belong getting labeled as an idiot as well.

    Too funny…everyone knows RIM makes good, reliable products, and has a great fan base. If you are a RIM fan, awesome, stick to them! If you like the iPhone, then just read these posts and chuckle. Either way, you can’t deny that BG is biased for/against certain brands. He posts news as he sees fit, and occasionally a dash of repartee when necessary.

    Keep up the good work, kid, you’re doin’ great!

    The only recent post I recall with outright “wrong” information was the one saying the Bold would launch on June 25th (and that post was later amended with different dates when new information came in)

    Compare that to all the other posts that turned out to be spot-on, including one that predicted the Bold’s official announcement right down to the minute! (i.e. midnight May 12th)

    That’s why I tend to trust BGR’s info first.

    BG, Just another message of support from a relatively new fan, who happens to be a C-Level exec in a tech company. As one poster put it earlier, the reports of bugs (and things generally not working well) in the early build of the Thunder aren’t surprising. Given that this project was likely made a serious priority in light of the iPhone2 release, and that there was a rush to get an early build, it’s even less surprising. Will RIM iron out the bugs – you bet, they can’t afford not to.

    Keep up the good work.

    Thank you, that was exactly my point. We’re 4-5 months away yet they’re reporting the keyboard and overall unit is perfect? In fact, the best on-screen keyboard ever? Please. The iPhone wasn’t perfect until 2 weeks before launch day. The Bold still doesn’t even have a final software build.
