Specs for Telus’ HTC Touch Diamond
When we told you yesterday that Telus was getting ready to offer the HTC Touch Diamond to its Canadian customers, we weren’t completely clear on the specs of the device. Thankfully, HTC hit us up with an official spec sheet from Telus, which provides all the dirt you could ask for on the first North American iteration of this coveted device. The biggest change, of course, is that unlike previous Touch Diamonds, the Telus iteration will be sporting an EV-DO Rev. A radio. The Telus Touch Diamond has also received a modest boost in the memory department, with 256 MB ROM/ 256 MB RAM to the GSM version’s quoted 256 MB ROM/ 192 MB RAM. That’s about all we could notice, save for an extra 5 grams of weight and an included case, so if you’ve fallen in love with the GSM version of the handset, there’s nothing about this CDMA version that should convince you otherwise. GPS, Wi-Fi, Touch FLO 3D, and much more are all still in full effect. Anyone excited?

im just guessing here but i thank that mem bump is just the dedicated to graphics say about 64mb and i guess telus just wanted to make it sound better

I really want to see a Sprint announcement on this — I’ve been a devout 6700 user for almost the past two years and now with my contract running out the 3g iPhone is looking really attractive with its massive screen and soon-to-be uber-rich app store… Sprint – before July 11th please!
Verizon will be launching the Pro as part of their fall assault. It will be everything the diamond is, w maybe a few more meaningful specs.
Us Canadians, we used to be late on everything, not on this one. Unfortunately I signed 6 months ago a 3 years contract with an HTC Touch
. No WIFI, old screen, no GPS… But it’s very affordable with a 15$/m unlimited Internet.
Am I the only one that thinks the leaked photo of the Sprint Diamond is better looking, wonder if vzw is going to do what they did with the Touch. The color change was a good idea they just used a rather bland and not too practical one, maybe it will be better this time around

This device looks great but I want to test out the TV-out functionality. If it works well this could be close to a Nirvana Phone and challenger to the iPhone.

I wish Telus would give us a real date on when we will see this phone. On the web site all you get is “coming soon”.
I can’t wait. My Moto Q has been a huge disappointment. Slow, buggy… shuts off during bluetooth calls, re-boots spontaneously etc. Telus has given me an early upgrade offer and I think this is the one to get.
I have called Telus and get varying answers with respect to the real date. Some say the week of the 12th of August to the 18th. As a non techie, will I be able to view slingbox on a cdma, evdoa signal vs 3g.. thanks

Telus just announced that they are postponing the release until Aug 20th. That figures.
Yeah I went to a couple of Telus stores and one told me next week no date..The other told me by Tuesday. Kind of disappointed hoping to get the phone today but no luck. Anybody know which data plan they are going to choose? I know the phone has WiFi so I’m wondering if its worth getting the data plan?

yeah i kno me too … ive been patiently waiting for months since its release and to hear a confirmed date of august 14 … only to be let down … was really disappoing … now i have to wait an entire 4 days for the phone to come out … and if they delay it any further i just dont know what i’m going to do – im already going crazy … and it kind of defeats the whole canada vs. america factor, based on the fact that canada is getting the touch diamond ahead of our friends down south, when its only a couple of weeks … its not that much longer of a wait now becus its speculated that the touch diamond is going to be released on sprint on september 2nd … well i dont know … thats all i have to say … hopefully next wednesday … becus i will be waking up bright and early to get mine …
luckily … you can also order it online from the telus website … and receive it by wednesday or thursday if you order by this friday the 15th of august … thats what i’m going to do

Does anyone know if telus is going to get the updated ROM version? Cuz I heard of some problems people had with the original version of this phone. Do you think its better than the instinct? im having a hard time deciding! Oh and does anyone know what kinda finishin the back of the phone has? I heard its no longer the diamond shape which frankly im pretty happy about…I heard it was a fingerprint magnet! I wonder how it looks now…
