Best Buy Getting Sidekick Gecco and Tony Hawk, BlackBerry Curve Sunset on 7-27
Wednesday means that your week is just about half over, but here at BGR, our work is never done. Our ninjas know that that they can never rest, and hump day is no exception. So what do we have here: how about a little Best Buy info for your viewing pleasure? One of our anonymous buddies has uncovered some info that all you Danger and RIM fans might enjoy - like a few new handsets coming your way this month from Best Buy. First, the Sidekick Gecco and limited edition Sidekick LX Tony Hawk will both be making their way to the retail giant later this month, both on T-Mobile. Inventory will be received on Sunday July 27 to be exact. On the same day, Best Buy will also be receiving what is labeled as the BlackBerry Curve Sunset; a new color of Curve for those of you you like to be a bit different. The carrier for the new Curve isn’t clear but T-Mobile is likely a safe guess. A Curve Sunset? In my humble profession when we use the term “sunset” and we’re not on Maui, we mean the END. When I saw the words “Curve Sunset” in the headline I thought it would ean no more Curve production.
A Curve in a different color so I can be different?? Are you kidding me? As Arthur Spooner once said when he got a bunch of Civil War tapes instead of the tote bag he’d wanted, “can I put my swimtrunks in there?! NO!!!” So unless this Curve will carry my swimtrunks - pass!

When T-Mobile launched their “string of pearls”, the red version was initially dubbed “Sunset”. The name was later (and presently known) as “Ruby”. It would make sense if the Sunset branding is red since At&t has a red/maroon version.

If the iPhone 3G were coming to Best Buy in July, either on the 11th with the others, or withing a few weeks, would’nt this same information have said so? Looks like Best Buy/Radio Shack won’t see iPhone 3G for a month or two.

That listing though is showing only T-Mobile handsets. So it would show the iPhone regardless.
Hopefully the iPhone rumor turns out to be true.

Best Buy and TMO have ended their agreement and Best Buys in my area have already stopped selling TMO.

Every Best Buy either carries Sprint, AT&T, and Verizon or T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon. No Best Buy carriers Sprint and T-Mobile together. So only the ones that carry T-Mobile will get these phones, unless it comes as prepaid.

Hopefully the Curve is in fact red and not brownish-orange which is what I think of when I think of Sunset.
Maybe it’ll even come pre-loaded with OS 4.5. Well maybe that’s pushing it a little?
I’m not caught up in the whole IPhone mania even though I’m a Mac guy. I prefer the BlackBerry for my own needs.

I am anxiously awaiting the release of the new Sidekick Gecco. I feel this will be a revolution amongst the lineage, not least due to the upgraded camera and video capabilities.
I hope to see imagery of the latest highly anticipated Danger powered device coming forthwith.

Danny, Recently it was released that all blackberrys sold before the official 4.5 release date will be preloaded with 4.5 os. If you can’t wait that long check out vodafone germany.

personally i find it odd
that the gecco will a better upgrade than the slide
or lx i mean all the features of the
ota updated lx AND 2 megapixel cam?

I have an lx and I will be replacing it with a gecco as soon as I get the chance. I have not gotten the damn ota yet and I don’t really care if this thing gets video because the camera sux on it. But a sidekick with a better camera is all danger needs to make a better impression in on the market. Oh yea.. And blackberrys suck. They always have network issues and they are poorly crafted. The keypad is stoopid as hell and its just not as comfortable to hold and use. A sidekick with a better camera makes a blackberry easy to forget about.
