AT&T roadmap leaks out
Looking for your AT&T fix for the remainder of 2008? We’ve got you covered. The carrier has a number of exciting new handsets planned for the coming months, which should be good news for both the carrier and consumers. Everyone loves selection, right? Right. First up, AT&T is planning to release the BlackBerry Curve 8320 (yeah, we’re scratching our heads too), and the BlackBerry Bold by the end of Q3. On the Windows Mobile side of things, AT&T is planning to drop the Samsung BlackJack III, which should see Windows Mobile 6.1, a 528 MHz processor, 3MP camera, aGPS, and more. Look for a new Pantech Duo sporting Windows Mobile 6.1, GPS, HSDPA, and a 528MHz processor. They also alluded to an HTC Tilt replacement, tentatively dubbed the Tilt II, which should feature a Qualcomm 528 MHz processor, aGPS, HSDPA, 256MB ROM/ 128MB, and more. Touch Pro anyone? Expect to see all three of those by Q4 of this year. Excited yet? Yeah, we thought so, but why stop here. AT&T is also planning a slew of Windows Mobile 6.1 upgrades for existing handsets. The current Pantech Duo should see 6.1 by October, while the BlackJack II, Moto Q9h, and AT&T Tilt will get the royal treatment by July.

BB Bold by end of Q3? That’s September!
Funny how everyone talking out of both sides of their mouth - BB Bold and iphone are 2 different consumers. Yet I can find several articles on the web that have a title something similar to ‘iPhone vs. Blackberry Bold’
RIM really screwed the pooch on this one. I am tired of waiting like I am sure most people are so it will most likely be Hello iphone!, even though it will be an inferior product.

This article omits mention of the iPhone 3G - no doubt because it’s a fait accompli.
And I’m *not* gonna pass on grass. If Bold/ATT would just have given me a solid release date, I prob would have waited. So screw ‘em. I’ve been a loyal BlackBerry guy for years. But now, guess what? I’m gonna *try* this much ballyhooed (sp?) iPhone for my own self. I’m not going to rely on second hand reporting/comparisons anymore. If I don’t like it, I’ll dump it and go back to BlackBerry.
Thing is, I wouldn’t have “strayed” but for RIM being so completely non-commital. Seriously.
That hypnotic sensory deprivation thing on the vitual keyboard sounds awesome. Sounds like MMS will be on board. Stereo bluetooth? I was only kidding before, I never use it. Cut/paste? That’s old technology anyway.

What about the Garmin Nuvifone or the Sony Xperia? I was holding out for one of those!!

Yeah I don’t get it either what’s up with them picking up the 8320. Never quit understood the benifits of having wifi on a blackberry if your not going to use it with UMA. Maybe ATT wants to give their customers more phones to choose from or maybe they don’t want the 8320 to be sold exclusivly by tmobile. What ever the reason they might have for getting the 8320 they have the money to really get anytype of phones they want.

Why no QWERTY keyboard phone for little texting girls. What’s the deal everyone else has a qwerty phone that doesn’t need a 30 buck data package!!!!

t so? I thought it was supposed to be at the AT&T labs?

While I’m thankful to the spy who got these nuggets of knowledge, it does seem to be somewhat incomplete.
If this is all AT&T is going with, it’s going to be a somewhat slow year for those who opt out of the Phone That Steve Built.
As others have said, there are a few high profile phones missing that we were all sure were heading to AT&T.
I guess time will tell…..

The i907 is the “Blackjack III” as you guys are calling it. Also, the camera is only 2MP.

No E71. If AT&T would offer it, I would get it over the iphone. I guess it is not a lose for them as I’ll get iphone 3G. Big lose for Nokia. E71 is far superior to a freaking blackjack.

Let’s see….NO Xperia (major major let down of the century, I know more people holding out for the Xperia than the 3giphone…), NO E71, NO E66, NO Samsung Omnia….Unbelievable. So pretty much if you want a new top of the line smartphone you are pidgeon-holed into a 3g Iphone or Blackberry Bold or buying unlocked online. I don’t care what that chart says we all know if it says Late Q4 that is speaking atandtease for “Q1-Q2 of 2009″. And I don’t know why they are calling anything “Tilt 2″ because the Touch Pro does not tilt in any way and would kind of look stupid if someone breaks the hinges trying to tilt it…..I mean in all honesty I am switching to the 3g iphone anyway, however I was really hoping to have the Xperia or Omnia or at LEAST the E71 to make my final decision. I guess the good news is that isn’t much else to choose from lol…
