I have a question on Corporate Data Plan: How can AT&T determine you are connecting to your work’s exchange server? I am confused about the $45 corporate data plan. If I want to connect my Iphone to my work email, I have to get $45 plan? Or, is this plan only for accounts that are link to a corporation’s set of accounts? Sorry if this is a stupid question. I’m a noob in regards to data plans.

Ryan… yes you can walk bout but it cant be activated anywhere but the ATT store. The AT&T store unbricks it before the customer can activate it.

Complain all yall want but the reason for the increase in internet is understanble. at $20 a month AT&T was comin close to losing money because each iphone customer was using close to 300,000 kb. Way more than any other data phone. When its 3G thats gonna increase data use even more. They needed the increase in data price. Its just ever with blackberry and pda prices now.

The no commitment pricing for the phone will still be locked to AT&T network. Its just means you dont technically need a contract in store. However if you activate it in store. It will set you on a contract. The prices for blackberry and the new iphone are the exact same. EXACT. its $30 a month for internet on either phone.

The non-commitment prices are good news for us in Asia. If sold non-commitment here, they will jack the price up at least 30%. So we can just buy the non-commitment phones in the States instead. Same phone, lesser price.

Also, I doubt non-commitment means that any sim can be used on it.

I don’t see any indication that the AT&T no commitment price of $599/$699 is for an unlocked iPhone. AT&T is selling them to appease govt watchdogs, but I can’t see AT&T actually selling an unlocked version anytime soon. When Apple re-negotiated the contract they should have negotiated an unlocked version. Hopefully legislation will soon pass that will finally put an end to this whole phone locking nonsense.

Umm i’m what u might call a “fanboy”
but i am completely and utterly shocked and desgusted at how apple has fooled everyone with this whole “half-price” shit. i mean if you read the post on ATT its actually $399 or $499 for current customers which is terrible because A) they lied, its not half price B) it used to be where no matter what u could just go buy an iphone and stick a ATT sim in it and C) why are loyal apple customers expected to pay so much money less than a year after the first iphone came out.
I’ll pass on that.

So what’s the point in unlcoking the phone and paying the efts if you can’t use it anywhere else? I mean if your getting almost the same function (yes, there are some improvements, I know) as a regular iphone, then wouldn’t it be cheaper to just buy one of those on ebay?

I would happly by an iphone if it was anybody but AT&T. I guess I’ll just wait a couple more yrs to when the contract ends and buy it when Tmobile gets it. By then we should be on the 3rd or 4th gen. But until then I might buy a 1st gen off ebay, jailbreak it and use it on Tmobile.

If they can sell an unlocked, no commitment iPhone 3G 16GB at $699 they’re in the business in Europe too. Still, Vodafone Italy announced 569 euro for prepaid so about $899 (so not quite $699). That is a little too expensive, but still comparable as price probably with the upcoming Nokia N96 (16GB, far better foto/video camera, DVB-H, radio, modem but smaller screen and no touch) and with the HTC Diamond (cheaper but only 4GB, higher resolution but stylus input for text).

All that money for a phone tha has no MMS capabilities. You also can’t have your own ring tones. I will stick with my Treo 755p with Sprint. I have the SERO plan and I pay $30 a month for 500 minutes,Unlimited night and weekend minutes,Unlimited mobile to mobile,Unlimited WEB and Email and last but not least Unlimited texting and MMS. Yea I know Sprint isn’t that great,but for the price who cares. All you idiots go ahead and pay $70+fees and taxes+$5 for only 200 text messages.

They still haven’t coupled texting onto the plans?!?!?! Apple + ATT + crappy cell phone = massive FAIL. When the hell did any plan cost that much? This is outrageous but if I were to ever buy one of these they wouldn’t dare mess with my plan.

This is an easy fix. If you have a line that is upgradable, congratulations you have nothing to worry about. If you want to buy it unlocked and use it overseas or on tmobile then that is the person who will get effed. The only reason the price of the no contract phone is so it will be translated to the buyer of the phone. the people who will sell them unlocked with ultimately transfer the price increase to the buyer so their margins will stay unaffected. it will make the person buying the phone unlocked think twice about ebay and probably walk into a att store and buy it for 200.
what do you guys think?

$200 for the 8gb + $175 early termination + $75 for the lowest voice plus data and $5 text package + $36 dollar activation fee=$486 thats before taxes. so this should quell the “buy it and cancel” idea
