Rogers’ iPhone data plan petition

ruined iphone

So you’re Canadian. You want an iPhone. But, you’re totally unhappy with Rogers’ pricing for the iPhone data plan which pales in comparison to our good friends at AT&T, right? And you’re totally tired of taking it up the bum bum. Well, there’s something you can do. As of post time, the petition to get Rogers to change the newly announced, non-unlimited iPhone plans has had over 11,000 signatures. We wanted to give it some attention so in the end, hopefully all those signatures will make a difference and our Canadian Rogers subscribers can buy an iPhone without taking out a second mortgage on their home. Wait, do they have mortgages in Canada? What you think guys, you going to sign it or what?

Thanks, to everybody that sent this one in!

Somehow, I think 11,000 canceled accounts would say a lot more than 11,000 names on a piece of paper.

I have an unlocked 1.0 iPhone. I pay more than $120 now for 1gb and lots of minutes. The $115 plan is fine especially if I can start using visual voicemail. Just not sure how I’ll break it to rogers that I’m not signing a plan since I paid the full (non-subsidized) amount on ebay. I love this phone gsm or not and will never return to the blackberry.
So if someone can just go ahead and unlock 2.0 I’ll activate exchange and continue on happily.
Now on to more serious business where is the Kindle for Canada?

    Hey,
What does price matter when you get to carry an iPhone? I think one should be experiencing an eternal bliss with one in their pocket.

On a serious note: I’ve put my name on a petition, but I doubt it will help you guys in Canada A ? Seeing as you practically told the carrier that you will do anything to get this thing. You know its like gas prices – demand / supply, people with too much money …

    Hey another thought:
Lets continue to bash companies like Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile.. and all the phones that exist, (they don’t compare to What is an iPhone perfection). Then one day, in our perfect world, the iPhone will become cheaper and companies like ATT and Rogers will charge less.
    No really.

Allright. Now you can ALL just be quiet about apple’s greediness. They’re an electronics giant, and by nature, they’re evil. Teach them a lesson and get a used treo or something.

you guys are all getting shafted you know? Ya, you folks in ths US too. We get unlimited voice, data (7.2 Mbps HSDPA), SMS, MMS… you name it, all for about US$20 per month. You guys are so behind.

A consumer hoping for better pricing on a consumer offering?…nothing revolutionary there. What’s new & troubling is the redefinition of the term “monopoly” to fit trivial personal preferences and desires. Individuals don’t have a “right” to a given handset (& a srvc plan that they think is “fair”). There are options – ignore iphone, get over it

Even though Fido’s network wasn’t all that great back in the day (pre-Fogers), I really miss their prices..

yeah i blame rogers for providing service to iphone for as low as 30$/month. Because no one bothered to read the fine print. Everyone thinks they gotta pay alot. But rogers said it b4, that we can use current plans and add data or get ANY rogers plan (starting @ 30$/m) and get iphone.

The only way for it to really work is just don’t buy the iPhone when it comes here. At least BELL seems to listen to what Canaddians want – better plan.

Telus is going GSM next year. Then Rogers will finally have some competition in the GSM market. I think we’ll see some action at that point. Right now, they don’t HAVE to do a damn thing because no other carrier is capable.
