Cons:
Texting is hard to get good at for some people like me
Low light produced for backlight(glare)
Sometimes people complain of not being able to hear me.
Video camera has a blue tint problem in high speed.

This is one of the best phones released for verizon network. The touchscreen is amazingly accurate especially coming from the voyager which touchscreen sucks in accuracy. So they really improved it when making this phone. Multi-tasking music player is also a plus when your on those bored days with nothing to do besides texting. Some things that need to be worked on are some of the glitches that the phone produces such as the phone restarting when doing something such as scrolling through text messages on the phone but you can fix this by resetting the phone which I found out on http://LG-Dare.com. But I believe the restarting problems can be fixed in a firmware update. But the phone has alot of tricks and features which you might not figure out until a couple of days after you get the phone. I know LG made a site( http://www.lgmobilephones.com/phone.aspx?id=8712 ) thats basically a picture manual for the LG Dare and it really helped learn the phone also.

The iphone is cool, no doubt.
I hate at&t. If you’ve got money to burn … go for it.

Upgrading my current phone to a Dare and using Verizon will save me MORE THAN $800 bucks over two years (not to mention all the $$ to buy apps, music and other “stuff”. Nuff said.

LOL, that’s a good one. It’s a significant majority, yes. But that’s mainly due to unfair trade laws in Europe (basically the EU outlawed anything BUT GSM) and networks in other parts of the world assuming it was better. The opposite is true: CDMA is more efficient for data transfer — look it up if you want — which is why verizon and sprint chose it. LTE, the hybrid of the two will be better yet. Oh, and CDMA coverage is actually GROWING in parts of Asia and Africa.

Oh, and last but not least: 95% of US cel phone customers could care less about weather their phone works in the rest of the world and the few that do can get temporary international calling plans when they travel or get World Phones (CDMA/GSM hybrids).

The general domestic consumer is completely clueless when it comes to cell phone technology. That is why people like you and I get so frustrated when we have to go into a store and deal with a rep. They are used to dealing with clueless people, and do not know how to deal with an informed consumer. All they are trying to do is make the sale. And that is the exact reason “tech. savvy” folks like us are met with either a “dear in the headlights look” or outright anger for knowing more about a product than the reps.

Now this LG is out to try and compete with the iphone again. Let’s face it, every carrier wished they had the iphone. I am no fan boy, back on a BB bc I am a heavy email user. I wonder if they are rolling this LG out in 72 countries? Hmmmmm

Vzw and BB for biz user and any other phone for a PC user.

Nothing radical will change until the new networks are rolled out so a 2 year contract is not a hindrance at this time.

ATT: move here if you want to sacrifice covg for a device.

Vzw if covg is most important and device is secondary.

What makes you think that none of the other carriers have done the same and just haven’t been barraded publicly?

I have seen lawsuits filed that named most of the other carriers for doing the same.

As per the data cap, most carriers have a data cap. And if they don’t already, they will eventually.

But from a running your business standpoint…AT&T bit what VZW wouldn’t chew on, and that was the revenue sharing, and now, having to be raped by Apple when subsidizing the equipment.

AT&T has had the upperhand in total base thus far, but their churn, although coming down, remains higher, their ARPU is lower and their network and customer service is constantly behind VZW’s overall network and quality and availability.

Finally, it’s all a waiting game. Eventually when everyone rolls LTE out, and VZW opens their network, eventually, there will be an iPhone for everyone…

So apple fanboys, fret not, eventually the love will spread. AT&T fanboys…uhm…good luck with that. VZW Haters..I mean, you make some good points

Overall and unimaginative and uninformative post on the launch of what appears to be a nice phone, as compared to 90% of currently available phones.
Apparently there is only one comparison that can be made here, and only one segment of BGR readers to make fun of.

1) the Dare’s camera puts the iPhone’s camera to shame with a quickness.

2) Verizon’s 3G coverage puts At&t’s to shame now. With Alltel merged to VZW, At&t will be lucky to catch up in coverage by 2011. It may be the “network of our fathers,” but it’s still bigger and (mostly) faster.

3) the 3G iPhone has an enhanced feature set for corporate users, but it still isn’t a corporate device in the way a Blackberry is – specifically because it lack the granular level of device management that BES provides. In this way, Verizon is smart to compete with the iPhone on the level of a “pro-sumer” class device, rather than a corporate device. Of course, that’s bascially what the Blackberry 9500 will be for…

4) Data services are cheaper on Verizon for essentially the same feature set (and you get EVDO Rev A upload speeds on the Dare – why no full HSPA on the iPhone?)

So there you have it, a decidedly non-fanboy assesment of the inevitable non-comparison comparison.
