MyGlobalTalk $50,000 giveaway!
MyGlobalTalk hit us up to let us know about their new VoIP application for BlackBerrys. Since they are just getting started and really want feedback from the community, we’re exclusively giving away 1000 free accounts, each with $50 of international talk time on them! We doubt they will last long, but it’s open to any BGR reader. Just jump on over to their site, install the app, and you will have $50 already in your new account. Not too bad huh? We’ve just started playing with the application but the concept is great. Hey, who could say something bad about $0.02 cent calling to London? But if you do download and install the app, make sure you give them feedback so they can polish everything and make it better, ‘kay?

I just finished installing it on my Pearl and when I click on it opens and it gives me menu with some option – use for international calls etc. but then I cant get past that screen. I click save and nothing happens
That is all you need, Make sure that you are allowing International calling. Now just make a call as you would normally would from your make call screen on your BB.
i signed up – no issues – made several calls to UK and worked perfect. love the application and concept – i can finally make global calls from my cell and $50 bonus is more than generous ….. nice job MGT.
I also got $10 for calling in today to do a quick 2 minute survey. wonder why skype doesnt do something like this.
IMPORTANT! The app won’t work if you dial “+” before the country code. The call will go through but you will be charged by your regular carrier! You have to dial “011″ before the country code. I told them I didn’t want to edit my 500 overseas contacts; they said they will try to fix this.
And the call quality I found is better then Skype and the phone rate is almost HALF what I pay to Skype
Okay, got it working on my curve and it was pretty easy. I am going to see if I can hit 2000 minutes to the UK for this $50!
I tried this product and I’m impressed.I’ve made calls to UK and Italy on my cell phone and the clarity was terrific, not to mention the price! I was surprised that it was so easy to call. This works very much like a dial around service.
I’ve had one problem twice in about 25 international calls: having to dial twice because something got caught on hold and I had 30 seconds of dead air. Then I hung up and dialed again and it went right thru. I don’t know if this is a problem with MGT or on the european side of the call. But this is the Beta test so you have to allow for some hiccups…
Using this it was cheaper to call England and Italy per minute than my landline! Hope it lasts.
Thank you to everyone for testing this Beta Application.
we have gotten tons of great feedback and are still looking for more. as you make calls and have suggestions, please visit the Contact Us page on http://www.MyGlobalTalk.com and let us know about them.
we are definitely working on the “+” vs “011″ issue and many of the other suggestions that have been passed on.
we are looking forward to our next release, which should be even better.
Thank you again,

I loaded their sw and followed the instructions exactly on my T-Mobile BB 8100 and it rebooted my phone like expected. Then I could not access the internet (EDGE went to edge). I used the BB Desktop sw to remove the app and EDGE came back. Man am I lucky it did toast my phone and make me reload the OS. I should have backed up the phone prior to trying their sw. Sorry guys – but I won’t try your beta again.
I’m not sure what happened with your phone, Can you please provide us with a little more information? i understand it’s the 8100, but are you running v4.2.1 or v4.2.2? also, have you removed any of the default programs or languages from your phone?
thank you for you help!
