well i have a rumor with sprint and cannot wait for the bold to come out when i asked the salesman at the store he said ‘’soon” and att gets stuff before sprint so everyone calm down we will all make it through this and anyways i would rather the bold perfected than just rushed!!!

I walked into an ATT store yesterday and they told me that the bold was not going to be available until November…….Is that freakin true? He worked there and I would think he would know but Im getting conflicting information I want that bold!!!

I like this guy… and it is very true all the info out right now is mostly rumors and I dont see why you Iphone users come into our forum for RIM and BB… First of its very unwise of you guys to come in here and say that the iphone is way better… well for starters thats your opinion and us people that like BB’s its just from a business user stand point… The iphone couldnt support much when it first came out cause u had to actually jail break it which could be a cause of bricking your phone… Blackberry’s you dont have to do that and not only that there are alot of things the RIM comes out with on updates which makes things even more better… Do us all a favor and get out of here cause its pointless of you guys being here and complaining that the iphone is better when it is clearly not… and dont try to change our decisions… JERK OFFS!

This phone has quite a few recalls, considering it’s suppose to be the Rolls Royce of all smartphones. I was reading a blog and head that August 8th was the release date of this phone for AT&T. But then again that’s just chitter chatter. Can’t always believe everything you see and hear on the news. Or media for that matter.

AT&T is delaying this, at the very least, until 30 days after the iPhone release date. I own a Curve and I just got the iPhone 3g, and one advantage, from the company’s standpoint, is that with the iPhone 3g, they’re generating tremendous revenue on features per customer. This is due to the fact that the target demographic of the iPhone will be adding texting on top of the required 30 dollar data plan, which cannot be removed as long as the iPhone is in use. The only thing keeping one from keeping the data plan off of a Blackberry is the mail-in-rebate. Many non business BB users will immediately drop their data in favor of texting, which in turn greatly decreases the revenue per customer on the monthly plan for ATT. The release date on the Bold will almost certainly coincide with the inability of the iPhone users to return their required data-data having phones. Fo Sho.

trust me guys the longer the better, this will not be a cheap phone may cost over 500 dollars, and if they are rushed out to release this phone
b/c if they do not fix problems now there will be replacements and a bad rep on the phone i would rather them have it ready when it is ready forget at&t rushing everything it will not be as good if it is not released when the problems are fixed

Mid August is great. I think most people salivating for the Bold are already using Blackberries, no?

Nonetheless, I am sure alot of people who really wanted and needed a Bold got suckered into an iPhone today; and at least a few banked on AT&T’s return policy, hoping that the Bold would be ready within a month (I heard this from several people in my small city). I can’t help but think that RIM is smart enough to have figured out everything by now, and that AT&T had something to do with ensuring that its two big offerings this year do not collide at launch. Further, I would bet that the Bold will be released AT LEAST 31 days from today by AT&T (consider 30 day return policy).

BG is an amazing site. I see it quoted and outright lifted everywhere. Kudos to BG.

The iphone launch is a clustercrap. No in-store activation, must synch to itunes at home, but nobody can get onto itunes, they’re shut down! I’ll just wait for the Bold, thanks.

Maybe Apple should’ve pushed back their launch until they got the bugs out.

I didn’t bother to read the entire thread but i wanted to let you fellow bb users know that:

This weekend i was in Vegas for the 4th of July and was in the elevator @ my hotel when i saw a guy using the bb bold, i asked him where he got it from and he told me that he works for Blackberry/RIM. As i snatched his phone out of his hands (lol..nice guy) i asked whats the hold up and when is the phone coming out? He said its coming out in mid August and approx $300-$350. I asked for his card but he laughed and said ‘no way man i cant do that”

He was wearing a rim shirt so that was proof enough.

I know its info we already know but at least now we have a confirmed date.

I’ve been counting the days for July to get the new Blackberry Bold and now i have to wait may be another month, bummer.
But that’s ok I prefer for them to spend more time fixing it and get a reliable phone, then getting one now that will have problems later. I know it’s totally worth it.

I have a crazy idea about what’s going on. What if Apple’s got more power over AT&T than RIM (apple’s much bigger).

What if apple from the beginning told AT&T that their phone had to come out first (behind closed doors). RIM wants to go first and AT&T signs the contract to deliver it as soon as possible (which RIM signs because they think they will beat apple) as long as RIM’s phone meets the standards (which RIM thinks will happen and RIM does not know about the behind closed doors agreement between apple and AT&T).

Now RIM comes and presents the phone to AT&T with time to spare. Apple comes back to AT&T and warns AT&T that iphone 3g must come out first. AT&T has to come up with faults with the phone. The overheating and battery problems are easy to pin since these are typical problems with 3g phones. Further, batteries rarely ever deliver what the manufacturer promises. AT&T forces RIM to go back to the drawing room. RIM can’t get angry because they already signed the agreement . They can’t even prove that AT&T was going to do this from the beginning. RIM also can’t get out of the agreement because this is fair (AT&T will claim standard procedure).

It may be crazy, but I can see this happening…

This may actually work to BB’s advantage; Consider … give iPhone an opportunity to demonstrate their oversights, create a demand for something that bridges the gap, and right as the hopes of those who don’t get the first run of the iPhone2 plummet from painful trasnactions… the bold may roll out (high hopes for threaded SMS!!! or that Yahoo! OneConnect bridges that gap) and RIM can pick up where apple left off. One possible scenario. But, I’m only ever loyal to good products, not manufacturers. Best product wins! I have some basic needs that need to get met SOON! I need to see my most IMPORTANT people, sorted by time, separated by category. iPhone or BB..??? MS phones do this by default, for years now (though they do suck balls – everything you’d need is 2 layers deep, and NOTHING is painless to use) …

Why are there so many COMPANY loyalists? Be loyal to your DOLLARS people, and choose the product that fits YOUR USAGE! The very notion of calling someone ridiculous for preferring one device over another is ignorant.

And to ALL of you who think you know where the markets going…? PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS! Money is TRUTH serum. Think you have a crystal ball? TSX: RIM, NASDAQ: RIMM – Apple Inc. (AAPL). Quietly take your crystal ball, make your deposits, and quit sniveling about the prices of phones! You and your crystal ball are RICH!

Look – you quibble about the cost of a phone… but you pay monthly, like an indentured servant the Cell Service Provider, who apparently can afford to SUBSIDIZE your cost! Its your monthly recurring where you waste your money… otherwise, they wouldn’t have the padding in their revenue to soften the blow of your device cost. AT&T sucks, slow internet, crappy reception (los angeles at least) … VZW is RIDICULOUS, they strip all phones of developer contributions and give you one OS to choose from, and then charge you up the you know. Sprint is questionable for voice, but the BEST by a landslide for Data, and tmobile… well, they just need to spend a few bucks on 3g or wimaxx – because… what the HELL are they thinking????? They all suck, so choose the one that’s cheapest, has your phone, encourages development, and has service in your house/apartment/mansion (those of you with crystal balls) …

In a recent RIM press conference they had said that “the bold is meeting / exceeding all carrier tests”

Thats why this delay confuses me. Either RIM is lieing or AT&T is.

I don’t that it’s that serious to say BB=Fail, so they take and extra month to work out some wrinkles, that just means that they are trying to make it better. At least thier not aware of the problems and trying to patch it up with half-assed software like some companies.

If RIM stateed that the Bold was on hold because they are not satisfied with AT&T’s network, I’d like to see the link to the press release.

If Apple was strong enough to force a delay in the launch of the Bold, that would really be a BOLD statement from AT&T. Think about it. They are saying in effect that even though RIM has been around years longer and provided AT&T with scores of new devices and exclusives, AT&T feels that the iPhone device and the ongoing relationship with Apple is far more important than with RIM. It would see that AT&T is smart enough to see that the iPhone does have the potential to overtake the market from RIM. If not, why risk pission off RIM?

And I agree with the previous poster who stated that lately, RIM has had nothing but problems. Service outages, failure to deliver on 4.5. They still have no HTML mail. iPhone had that from day one. They installed wifi in some device ans it wasn’t worth a crap because the web brower and processor wasn’t nearly good enough to handle it. That’s why EVDO blackberrrys have sucked too even with 3G because of the crappy hardware. RIMS hardware has literally been good for nothiing but to push out plain text email and sms messages.

If Apple can meet and exceed specs on RIMS best (the Bold), in just under a year, imagine what they’ll be able to do in another year or two. Same for WM. I have stuggled with that Windows Moblie crap for years, tweaking and dealing with lockups and resets daily. WM has the stability of a house of cards. Yet, my iPhone, in a year, has never required a reboot. Go figure. I never missed a call because my phone was locked up and I didn’t know about it till I tried ot make one.

Like Apple and the iPhone or hate them. Either way their presents in the marketplace has really gotten the others to get off their collective asses and try to produce some knockout devices.

If you are stuck using RIM, or just perfer it, then don’t be mad at Apple because they slipped up and let Apple take a more important role with AT&T than RIM.

RIM seems to be having all kinds of problems with all of there new hardware/software. They can’t seem to get OS 4.5 right, now this news about the Bold? They are failing big time. They will lose to Apple if they don’t get it together fast. I never thought about buying an iphone, but I am considering it now. Will we ever see a stable release of OS 4.5? However I am still leary over AT&T’s claim about the Bold. Personally I think its a way for them to promote the iphone longer.

I love all the armchair quarterback analysis of RIM’s stock like it actually means something. I also love all the 7th Grade (or equivalent education/maturity) Apple fanboys that frequent this site.

How about this: Apple is forcing AT&T to not release the Bold until 30 days after the iPhone goes on sale? (You know, because of that 30-day return policy).
