BlackBerry Bold delayed on AT&T until at least mid-August!

We know what you’re thinking… but this is for reals! We’ve just confirmed this now with two high-level sources: the Bold is actually delayed until August on AT&T. It seems like AT&T and RIM are still having software issues with battery life and overheating. It has not been certified by AT&T yet. This new information goes against our previous intel and thoughts, but it really looks like everyone on AT&T either needs to wait it out, get a Bold from Canada, or think impure thoughts. What you thinkin’? RIM = FAIL? Yeah, us too.

Anything posted on the comments section from someone with the moniker, “not an apple honk” is completely, you know… what’s the word? Unbiased. Yes, unbiased. Not an apple honk, but an BB fan boy is more like it. Poor BB fanboy, saddened he was to keep using his curve on his 1×1″ non-touchscreen for another 2 months before he can waste money on a new BB that still uses an SD card. Hey, at least you’ve got that qwerty keyboard technology!

Damn. Based on the posts on this system, all of you losers buy the latest BB model whenever it comes out. I’m on my 4th BB - started with a 7280, upgraded to 8700, then 8800, now Curve 8310. Do you losers really just sit here on watch & wait mode until each new model arrives? How lame. The Bold looks cool… and so does the BB Thunder. Get a grip people. And for you total geeks… get a frickin’ life you losers.

bob is on to something. I have had four BlackBerry phones over the past year and a half. Beside the crappy build quality the only thing I found more annoying was using the SD card. Don’t get me wrong, I still like BB but after using another phone with built in memory (I won’t say what it is but you know) I can’t ever see myself going back. Well, I might go back to BB if they built a phone that seems like it could last more than six months. The only one that I had that lasted past six months was made in Canada. Good luck if you get one made somewhere else. Even that one died on me and I do not abuse phones. Never dropped any of them. The Bold seems real cool though and I can’t wait to see it in person. But its going to take awhile for me to spend money on another RIM product.

I wonder if it the battery drain and overheating issues have anything to do with the bold constantly trying to find AT&Ts 3G network?

Buying the cards, storing the cards, the cards were under the battery on three of them. Putting a large amount of songs on them took
forever. I just did not like using them. The phones were cool but like I said they were not put together very well. One keypad just stopped working, the charging port broke on another, one BB had the rubber coating on the top flake off. All of these phones were kept in cases and never dropped. I still like BB but kind of want to try out other phones.

I am looking forward to the release of the bold. I have been patiently waiting for this device for over a year. I also like some of the features of the Iphone. I want to see both devices before I purchase either one of them.

What I dislike about the Iphone is its exclusive contract with AT&T in the USA. I feel, Apple is helping AT&T create a monolopy in cellular service especially in the USA. Personally, I despise AT&T. I do not like the way they treat their customers or how they handle business affiars.

On the other hand I dislike the fact that T-Mobile is slow to release anything new. T-Mobile has excellent customer service and is willing to help thier customers. T-Mobile has good coverage where I live and I was able to use my service during Hurricane Katrina unlike some of my collegues who were with AT&T and had no service. The only other carrier which worked was Verizon.

With that said, T-Mobile should ruin the release party for AT&T and release the Bold on July 11 at the price of 175.00. Then we would see who wins this war! I know this will not happen but it is wishful thinking.

Listen to the RIM earnings conference call. Robin says the Bold will not be out until RIM Q3, Q1 ended May 31st, Q3 means September or later, not mid-August

bob - your personal attacks are funny. A real man would just say, yeah, I was wrong. I misread the stock tables. No big deal. But you are obviously too wrapped up being an iPhanatic to employ rational thought. good luck with your new iPhone on July 11th. I hope it’s everything you thought it would be and more.

I checked the transcript again, this is what was said:

“While there will be some new products included in the mix, we expect shipments of BlackBerry Bold and other new products to really start ramping in Q3. We anticipate that weeks of channel inventory at the end of the second quarter will only be up slightly on a forward-weeks basis but are well within the range we are comfortable with. “

I love how you all jump to conclusions (especially BG) and say RIM has failed us?

The reason it’s being delayed on ATT is because RIM IS NOT SATISFIED WITH ATT’S 3G NETWORK.

The release is still on track for Rogers in July.

If the physical keyboard of the Blackberry is going to be it’s saving grace, then I say that may not keep it ahead of the iPhone, or WM devices either. Everyone seems VERY happy with the qwerty keyboards of the old school berrys, model numbers escape me but you know, they low rez screens and wider bodies.

Ever since the 8800 model, I’ve read more complaints that I can count in forums like Pinstack about the keyboard. The keys are too close together and had a funky shape to them. And the same ding dong RIM fanbys who claim the touch screen keyboard on the iPhone is just crap are the same ones that kept teling eveyone to just give SureType a chance! Just practice for a few days they said and it will be like second nature. Uh, yeah. If you have the hands of an 8 year old little girl maybe. When I try to tell people that after two days or so of practice with the iPhone keyboard then you’d love it.

No no they said. I tried in in the store and hated it! I tried it for five whole minutes tied to a store display stand and it was terrible. Blah. Double standards with the RIM folks.

And I still say they stole that Bold design from the Motorola Q9 Global from AT&T.

And here’s the kicker….! After all these years of the RIM never even hinting at a touch screen the NOW have one after the iPhone launches. I repeat, RIM is actually making a touch screen device. And you are going to tell me that Apple isn’t spooking RIM???

Touch screens have been around for a long, long time and RIM stuck to it’s non-touch interface. It took Apple, who is still less than a year in the phone business, to prompt something new from RIM.

    There’s nothing wrong with:

    1) giving customers options…touchscreen, flip phone, full qwert, etc. you will soon have the option to get every type of phone from RIM if they all do get released

    2) beating people at their own game.

I love how you speak like you know the “real” story without having to cite a source. I’m sure you are another “insider” that must remain anonymous. RIM’s been satisfied enough with AT&T’s network to dump a crap load of the latest blackberry devices on them before without hesitation.

The 3G doesn’t matter! The phone will use EDGE outside of 3g areas and AT&T’s EDGE network is even faster after the iPhone lauch last year. Your post has ZERO merit.

Sure. If that’s what happened. They are giving customers a touch screen becaue that’s what iPhone did. Treo’s been doing that for years and RIM never got off the pot until Apple’s iPhone came along.

As for being beaten at their own game? Hasn’t been done. For all the years that RIM’s been making devices they have nothing that can touch the 3g iPhone. The certainly didn’t beat them to market, hanven’t beaten them in build quality, and can’t touch the features of the iPhone and the hundreds of free or low cost applications about to flood the market.

Thanks for playing. Please try again when you find some facts to play with.

I didn’t say they’ve beat them YET. If they are developing a touch screen obviously all they’re trying to do is take even more market share…market share that the iPhone may have had instead.

RIM is in no way threatened by Apple because they did the smart thing and got the business market in their pocket.

Who would you rather have hooked to your devices? Consumers who may or may not have money to spend…or the richest and most powerful people in the world who are willing to spend millions of dollars on your product?

    Yeah, that’s what I thought.

This is true. Often a business user will not even have to purchase a Blackberry as it will be purchased for them by their business & or corporation.

All in all I suppose it seems like a more stable market. Where you know if you release a new phone that it will be eaten up.

Not to say that the new iPhone isnt going to produce the same reaction with its now lower pricing. ( the only problem with this low pricing is that some people may not want to purchase the device because it will become common; not something unique due to its high pricing. Sometimes people want to be part of a select group to own a device.)

Im on the fence of buying either an iPhone or the Bold so consider me in no way a fanboy for either; i just want the best possible product.
