BlackBerry Bold delayed on AT&T until at least mid-August!
We know what you’re thinking… but this is for reals! We’ve just confirmed this now with two high-level sources: the Bold is actually delayed until August on AT&T. It seems like AT&T and RIM are still having software issues with battery life and overheating. It has not been certified by AT&T yet. This new information goes against our previous intel and thoughts, but it really looks like everyone on AT&T either needs to wait it out, get a Bold from Canada, or think impure thoughts. What you thinkin’? RIM = FAIL? Yeah, us too.

this is a major bummer. i was looking forward to switching from my verizon contract which ends next month.
now i have to wait another month using this junkie LG VX9900? *major sigh*
I sure hope Rogers is ok with them.
If Rogers does not release in July, then its a huge boost to Apple this summer.
This delay is dissapointing but not unexpected. Lets all hope that August does not turn into September or November or worst, by CHRISTMAS!?!
Looks like the iPhone will be flying way before the ATT Bold!
Makes you wonder if Vodafone and Rogers have lower standards or AT&T is just jerking us around.
If the issues are legit then fine I’ll wait another month for it, but this will not move me to an iPhone, period.

Bgr, isn’t this what you originally reported in the spring only to be refuted by the Berry guys at WES? I guess it’s alot harder than they thought to come up with Applesque operating system that runs low power but still provides PC like punch.

Here in NYC, I hardly know anyone who isn’t getting this new iPhone.
In fact, at $199, there are dude’s here getting them for their kids as well.
As for the Bold, we’ve heard the thing gets really warm, but overheating means cutting the life of the thing short.
I’m fairly confident the boys up north can solve that. Let’s hope.

This is most likely AT&T finding any reason it can to give the iPhone the best launch possible. Anyone who has used a Bold experience these issues?

I actually spoke to an AT&T rep yesterday about some issues I’m having with my 8800. I mentioned I’m just holding out for the Bold and she said I’ll be holding out until Christmas. When I responded with WTF!?, she said, “Well, in time for Christmas, so anytime after Thanksgiving.” For whatever that’s worth…
I have no problem with BB or Rudy. Just tired of everyone flinging the fanboyness around. I think both the Bold and the iPhone are great products. Just use the device that fits your situation, simple as that.

Looks like i’ll be buying the iPhone. I switched from my iPhone to a Curve to see which I liked better, knowing that the Bold and the iPhone 2.0 would be releasing around the same time, and I could make a decision then. I’m pretty impatient, and the fact that the iPhone will be out a month before the BOLD makes me want to get the iPhone.
I think it’s AT&T controlling this.
My plan was to pickup the IPHONE, play with for a little while and return it within the AT&T return period(14 days) and pickup the BOLD.
Boy does this ruin my plan!
Damn, that sux, I was looking to get one very soon. Guess i’m stuck with my slow Centro another month and a half.
Maybe it’s a good thing? Just enough space between iPhone release and Bold release that will make the Bold the latest and greatest device people want…if they market it right.
Anything later than august, or any ridiculous price…and i think the Bold is done in the US.
