PhoneFusion Brings Enhanced Visual Voicemail to BlackBerry

If you haven’t yet heard of Fusion Voicemail Plus by PhoneFusion, prepare to be impressed. In a nutshell, Fusion Voicemail Plus centralizes all of your voicemail boxes and presents your voicemail messages visually on your mobile handset. Instead of receiving voicemails in separate boxes for your mobile number, home number, VoIP number, office number, etc everything goes to your PhoneFusion One voicemail box. The messages are then displayed visually on your handset a la iPhone. Each entry displays caller info and incoming number along with your number corresponding to the relevant phone service (so you know if the caller dialed your mobile number or home number for example). And did we mention that the service is completely free? Excellent. Phone Fusion has a long-standing history providing the Fusion Voicemail Plus service for Windows Mobile. The service is currently in beta for BlackBerry but expect a solid offering upon signing up. To get going, simply hit the read link and enter your info. You’ll see a message that your handset is not currently supported but you can then sign up for the beta. After Doing so, you’ll get an SMS on your mobile with a download link to snag the BlackBerry app. Beyond BlackBerry, Phone Fusion is also currently working on cooking up Symbian, Android, Linux Mobile, Palm and Java versions as well. Tie Fusion Voicemail Plus in with a voicemail to text service like SpinVox and you’ve most definitely got our vote for President.

Yeah, visual voicemail was about all the iPhone had going for it. Too bad, Apple had a nice run, but I guess the party’s over…

BG needs to do a review of all the different apps that are out for BB’s that do this visual voicemail. Pro’s/Con’s and pick out the best one.

Very cool. Setup took all of 3-5 minutes. The BB interface needs a bit more polishing but no big deal. Works very well. Not an iphone killer just yet, but a solid starting point. Thanks BG for the news!

It is an iphone killer app when you think about the integration of all voicemail sources in one app. Maybe not the best interface, but that’s always improving and will do so in the future. RIM rules!

Yes, a review of all of the Visual Voicemail apps currently available for the BlackBerry would be VERY helpful! BTW, are there other Visual Voicemail apps currently available for the BlackBerry?

    Dassin says:

I use PhoneTag which not only gives me visual voicemail, but also transcribes my voicemails into text. Granted, I pay $9.99 a month for the transcription service

The Phone Fusion people ended up e-mailing me a link with the beta download. It looks like it was down for a while.

However this doesn’t seem to do Sprint user’s much good since you can only call forward everything and not just missed/busy calls…

Forwarding instructions vary per carrier and are listed in the help section.

Incorrect statement. It should forward only no answer/busy transfer. That must be specified. Then it will only forward VM, not everything.

well, it looks good. I downloaded it. I still haven’t gotten the sms with further instructions. Haven’t been asked for userid/password. So I don’t think it’s fully functional. When I call it, it says this subscriber it not available. I have a business and need personalized ogm. Hopefully it’ll all sort out with this sms I’ve heard so much about!

Not sure I can trust a company with handling my voicemails if they can’t even send out sms correctly. Sad to see that I’m not the only one not having this issue.

This program works on my 8130 on Verizon… I got a Playback Error Rim.Something.Doesnt.Work.ETc and this was fixed by going into applications permissions advanced and then changing the media access options.

    Thanks for your post BG!

I downloaded the program (after they emailed me the link), got my calls conditionally forwarded w/ Verizon, and can see my voicemails on PhoneFusion’s website, but when I open their icon on my phone, there is just their heading (Fusion Voicemail Plus:) but no voicemails, nothing, just black screen where the voicemails should be. Can’t figure out what’s wrong, and no answer from their support yet.
