So, I see we are all arguing about phones again… That’s weird! Anywho, I’m not going to argue about who’s retarded about having any certain brand of products because when it comes down to it…. There are people who want/need the newest thing out to feel good, there are people who like how an individual OS works and feels to them and also people will always try to find reasons to confirm they are right about a given topic. I personally will try to get the new iPhone but because getting apps for my Pearl on a MacBook is too much of a pain and there may be an easy way but I’m tired of the ball personally, I’m ready to move to a phone that fits me better. BB and iphone owners alike, they are just phones it’s not worth the fight.

To the person above who states the AT&T stores don’t open until 9 am and why would they open early, I have one thing to say, you are a moron! Do you not know that the day of a big realease of any kind most stores would open early??? I always was a big fan of NOKIA, I have n95 and n95-4, my withe has e65. I had Nokias for the past 8 years, switched to Motorola ones and had to go back to Nokia in 2 days. Apple created a grate product! look at all touch screen phones around……. I was not in line for the Iphone one a year ago due to lack in apples telecommunication experience but on July 11 I will be! Apple created a grate product and now with 2.0 and 3G ( I don’t care about GPS much) the Phone will rock. Just give us flash player and this would be all we need….

As someone who has used 3 different blackberries and an iphone I feel I have the experience to opine on this debate. The truth is I will be picking up an iphone on the 11th. But if I do not see improvement over the first version on many areas I will be returning it and buying theBold when released. The Iphone is great at many things but at the end of the day, it is a poor quality phone, and was not great at handling email. I am expecting the new plastic bag to imrove the antennas and the phone reception as well as the bluetooth reception, all of which sucked in the firs version causing me to sell it. If you have used Iphone email you have likely seen the dreaded “message has not been downloaded”. About 20% of the messages you receive cannot be opened. Who cares if you have html email if you cant read the email? All that said the user interface of the iphone and the browser cannot be touched by anything BB is going to make any time soon. If Apple fixed the phone and antenna they have my vote. If not, back to BB. By the way eJay, due to the lack of encyption you will NOT see iphone take substantial shares of the corporate or government market which make up most of its market share even with Exchange.

I think that people who think that the iPhone will replace BlackBerry in the near future especially in the business world never had a real job in the corporate world. BlackBerry security, push email, Qwerty keyboard, and ability to push apps wireless (not via Itunes or Apple Store), as well as ability to wipe out its contents if lost are all features that the iPhone does not have.

Glass keyboard will not replace real keyboard in the corporate world. You can’t attach or edit files even with iPhone 2.0 software so BlackBerry is nowhere near business device.

Who cares about screen real estate? Most people use the phone for talking, texting, or emailing. Who needs 3.5″ screen for that?

I also like how people knock the new BlackBerry browser before it came out. iPhone is fair game because it has been out for a year and new one will have the same features other than 3G and GPS.

For those who think iPhone will knock out BlackBerry, look at the 1st Quarter 2008 market share for smart phones in US. BlackBerry #1 with over 40% while iPhone #2 with over 17%. iPhone has catching up to do. Lets see how the rest of the year fares.

Are you people seriously kidding me about the Blackberry Bold having a REMOTELY good web browser? If it was so good they would have showed it off. Not just skipped right by it. Yes they have had 3G in other phones for years. And what have they been using them with? Internet Explorer mobile? The BB browser? Opera Mobile? Please don’t even get me started on the lack of screen real estate. The only thing BB had going for it was their email and now the iPhone 3G with exchange support and all the enterprise features is going to kill their market share.

Between BlackBerry Bold and iPhone 3G…I pick BlackBerry Bold. Its a good balance between multimedia and messaging which is something that I need in a device.

For all those hung up on the video and mp3 features of the iPhone….I know its tough stretch but ever thought of having a good messaging device like BlackBerry Bold and iPod Touch? Yes carrying two devices may be pain in the ass but you can have a BlackBerry with phone/messaging features that even new iPhone does not have and enjoy watching your videos and listening to music on iPod.

Hmmm…Good phone for talking and iPod for music and videos sounds like we went back to pre iPhone days. Makes sense to me f— the new iPhone.

I had first gen iPhone and sold it on ebay. Second gen is same crappy phone with 3G and GPS…big deal. Who wants to geotag crappy 2 megapixel pictures and to do what with them? You can’t even send MMS from the iPhone.

Then comes $30 data plan with no text messages which is mandatory.

I will stay with my LG VU that has 3G, MMS, and $15 data plan. For $30 I can have unlimited AT&T TV and internet.

I will see and wait for 3rd Gen iPhone that hopefully will have more memory, better camera with flash, video recording, and MMS.

Lets see what Apple will have in store next year.

These guys just don’t open up to ANYTHING else – I’m all for being devoted to a few things but to a point where I’m going to wait in line for hours/days for a product…F*** THAT! I have a life! We all know what happened when the first iPhone was released…delays, delays, delays.. and I won’t be shocked if that happens again.

I’ve used both, the iPhone and Blackberry and both have their positives and negatives. iPhone is a great invention and innovation within the mobile software vicinity but considering the hardware, it’s very weak compared to phones released by Nokia, Motorola, LG, RIM and other manufacturers.

“But the new iPhone has 3G!” Who the FUCK cares! Phones older than the iPhone have had 3G for years so that’s just a bullshit point to argue so don’t bother. The iPhone does have my vote for having the best LOOKING software but it’s still missing key features that many other phones have had for the past 5 years, maybe longer.

The iPhone is missing:

1. MMS: It’s still impossible to send photos taken on your iPhone to non-iPhone users without attaching them to an e-mail.

2. Cut, copy and paste: You literally cannot move text and pictures freely from one application to another, despite upgrades in iPhone 2.0 to programs like Microsoft Office and PowerPoint.

3. Landscape keyboard support outside of Safari: Don’t like typing vertically? Apple doesn’t particularly care.

4. iPhone tethering as 3G modem for laptops: You can either surf the Web or use your laptop with the iPhone. No connectivity along the lines of the long-standing Treo feature.

5. No bluetooth keyboard support: It’s great that this iPhone has full iWork compatibility. Why not make it possible to use the iPhone as an actual mobile working platform?

6. Videocamera support: iMovie for iPhone could be the best application that Apple ever puts on a mobile platform. Unfortunately, they still haven’t turned on video capture for the iPhone’s camera.

7. Camera Flash: Want to use your iPhone to take pictures at a concert/party/club with limited lighting? Good luck; better bring a digital camera with you.

7. Flash support: A huge swath of the Web remains inaccessible via the world’s premiere mobile platform.

8. Bluetooth headphone support: Don’t want to listen to music over cables? Tough luck.

So there you have it – iPhone has a great LOOKING software and somewhat ok hardware. iPhone 3 (4G in 2010?) will probably be THE iPhone of the century, if Apple wants to listen to the complaints, that is.

Boy, news travels fast I see! We were just told today about the 8am launch. As much as I’m excited (actually, just want it over with already) I’m more anxious for the blackberry bold personally. I currently own both the iPhone for personal & a BB Curve for business therefore I’ll more than likely have both the bold & 3G iPhone

btw, the data plan has already been publicly noted. $30/month for data NOT including text. Text plans are $5/200, $15/1500 or $20/unlimited. Voice plans remain the same. $45 for Enterprise.

I am only throwing out my own comments because I am always amazed on how Apple fans (including Mac fanboys) are so devoted to their products that there isn’t an option to open up the mind and see there’s life outside of Apple, and other products that are better at certain things.

Bob tried to slam me about BB not having a touchscreen. Fact is I don’t want one. Im also not sad in the least that Blackberry’s javelin will be hitting Verizon first. They can have it. The bold represents everything I want in a phone – fastest 3G chip, real keyboard, PLENTY of 3rd part apps (Sorry Bob, you need to read some more about that), beautiful new browser (and no I don’t care if I have to press a button to zoom instead of run my finger across a screen)

You will see similar arguements in other tech forums about how awesome Macs are. They will argue that Macs don’t get viruses like PCs do. And they are right. However, if as many people bought Macs as they did PCs, hackers would start making the effort to corrupt Macs. The Mac base is small enough to where hackers don’t care.

In any case, I just wish all of these people going goo goo over all Apple products would take a step back, do their homework, and be a little more objective.

Also the apps for the iphone are bar none 10x nice looking AND more handy than the blackberry apps. I know ive had several blackerries over the last couple years

It doesn’t seem like people are “jealous” of anything. Lets break this down:

People are clamoring for a release date on the Bold. Isn’t it safe to assume they’re out of a contract (and don’t have to pay an ETF)?

If not, then any contract signed up to this point will have run out by the time the 5year exclusivity runs out, so its safe to assume that if they really want one then all they have to do is wait.

Different people like different things. You like iPhones (its scary to see your devotion…) They like Blackberrys, some like Nokias, some like LG, etc.

Just because they would rather purchase another phone doesn’t make them jealous in the least. You have different needs in a phone than do other people.
