iPhone 3G to launch at 8:00 AM on July 11th?
We just got a tip that AT&T store managers received emails stating that the iPhone launch would be at 8:00 AM on July 11th, and not 6:00 PM like last year. Our tipster stated this was 8:00 AM CT, but we’d guess if 8:00 AM was indeed the launch time, it would be 8:00 AM local time just like last year. We’re working to confirm this and the post will be updated when we do.
So…who’s up for a 3G iPhone and spend that much money, instead of making an honest buck?
If they play their cards right like last time and keep them in stock (unlike the playstation 3 and Wii issues), um…how can I word this?

8am? Sounds good to me. With the mandatory in-store activations, they’re going to need “all day” to get through the people coming in to buy them.
If they started at 6pm, they may not get through the line.

They’ll have to start at 8AM to give them time to activate each handset in store. Imagine how awful that first day will be when each buyer has to activate spending a minimum of 20 minutes on each person. Sounds like a nightmare.

I don’t understand why they would do it at 6pm. Like crazy said, to activate every phone is gonna take a long time and then this launch is supposed to be even bigger then last time. You start at 6, who knows wat time they will be done. Makes the most sense.

It’s obvious, they don’t have AT&T, so they think the next best thing is the Blackberry Bold. I could see your point, but those that don’t have AT&T in the states have no choice, they have to get the BB or another smartphone. Seeing as it looks like it will be harder to hack the 3G, its easy for people to bad mouth Apple and its product that they’ve never used… because they don’t have AT&T.

You couldn’t be more wrong. At the end of the day the cup of truth you Apple fanboys have to drink is the “3G” classification for the new iphone isn’t nearly as fast as a BB Bold.
