I live in the area as well, and I have T-Mobile and I have no trouble in Lake County, or Geauga. Ashtabula County sucks for T-Mobile, but they suck for every other carrier as well. Verizon and Sprint are much much worse than T-Mobile in this area though. AT&T is about the same.

WHYWHYWHY can’t we have the great Tmobile service with whatever device works best for our particular needs?????? HUh MOBILE – WHY?

I’m a committed customer who is appalled by the phone options- they are basic phones with no business capability unless you want the latest RIM- and I don’t- I want iphone interfacing -I have a mac- with great texting features,video capability on 3g, and a real time gps with wifi hotspot service- why is it we can’t have the same selection that exists in Asia- I say the carriers whould let custmers choose their own phones OR offer the same capapbilities/design across the board on their own version phone. WAKE UP!

TO be honest, most of t-mobile’s phones are D.O.A to begin with. Not literally but you get my point. They are phones that nobody wants. Aside from the sidekick, and maybe the blackberries, the rest of them are from 1995. If you compare the list of phones that AT&T has versus T-Mobile, you will not sign up for T-Mo. The only reason I have T-Mo is that I buy unlocked phones from Asia. I have never used a T-Mo phone. That might change when they rollout the 3G network, but as of right now, all their phones are duds.

The nokia 5610 got pushed back for some unseen reasons. Tmo is still planning to launch it, just haven’t came out with a date.

Hey, didn’t T-Mobile plan on coming out with a Nokia 5610? I saw one from a friend overseas (lucky lady!) and thought it was really cool. A lot cooler than the 5300, that’s for sure (same form factor, I know, but thinner and better camera and better reliability for the software).

Got the nokia 6301 from tmobile as an upgrade 2 days ago,was having a lot of connection issues on secured/unsecured wifi networks.Any tips from anyone would be helpful. I think Tmobile has rigged this phone to their own hotspot network and has restricted free access to wifi networks.Their tech support was unable to resolve the connection issues and tossed me around. BEWARE!! My suggestion: Buy an unlocked nokia 6301 from an independent phone vendor if you wanna utilize this phone’s wifi potential.

I left VZW for T-Mobile here in Los Angeles when my carrier started paying for my BlackBerries. I’ve personally found T-Mobile’s network pretty solid for the most part. Every carrier has areas where they suck, but for me, I’m happy.

Have any of you guys even picked up the 6301? This thing not only looks sweet, it feels good in the hand (metal finish) and has great call quality over GSM. It’s very small and chic. Definitely looks way better than some of those 5lb monster smartphones I’ve seen some of the more hardcore users chug along.

I bought one online after playing with one at my local corporate store. It’s the perfect backup phone for the times I don’t feel like using my BlackBerry which is every weekend. Just pop the SIM in and out and I’m good to go.

I was informed that once T-Mo turn on 3g all over that they would vacate gsm/edge after a short time!!

Tmobile is not dropping their Gsm/edge network. Dual mode umits phone that can work on 1900/gsm will still work.

T-Mobile has officially committed to rolling out UMTS / HSDPA on the 1700 and 2100MHz bands
So 1900 will not work for us. When they do go 3G not many phones will work on these bands.

Can’t really name any phones tmobile or otherwise I have lusted over but as of resent the only phone I see people going all goh-goh about is the Iphone.
Now the Iphone might be the type of phone some people switch compnies to get. I am sure many of the new iphone user came from other companies but the smart ones would just unlock them and use them with T-mobile. Now working for Tmobile I see many of our current t-mobile customers using the unlocked iphones.

It makes perfect sence why loyal Tmobile customer would stay with T-mobile we do have the best customer service and we truly care about our customers. What still is a bit of a shocker to me is I am seeing more and more Sprint, Verizion and ATT customers switching to Tmobile using unlocked iphones.

I agree. I think the more request T-Mobile gets from its customers, the better chance they will start to listen. I have sent them several emails to CS requesting they get high end smartphones to compete with AT&T and Verizon. My voice is one of millions. If you disagree with what T-Mobile has to offer then voice your complaint to them directly. It is a way change occurs. I really like T-Mobile, they have the best plans around and thier customer service is more professional than AT&T. But this is only my 2 cents.

Could we possibly get someone who is not totally biased to write an article about these two new phones. Josh should take a look at the Endgadget article about the two same phones to see how it is done properly. They are not too thrilled about the phones either but at least they don’t bash them the whole time. Just because they are not a new Blackberry or the X1 doesn’t mean they are terrible phones. They aren’t half as bad as this article is written. You do know that there are people out there that don’t care about 3g, touchscreen, full web browsing, mp3 playing all-in-one devices right? So how about next time you write an article try being objective and see past your narrow views of what you think everyone wants in a phone.

T-mobile going 3g isn’t going to effect the number of unlock phones available. An unlocked phone is an unlocked phone. As long as the unlocked phone supports GSM/1900 you’ll be able to use it with T-mobile. Tmobile getting 3g isn’t going to change that . Now of course if you want to get an unlocked 3g phone such as the tilt to connect to anything faster then GPRS/EDGE it won’t be able too but you’ll still be able to use an unlocked 3g phone with TMO edge network.

After being with T-Mo for more than 10 years i am also frustrated with they lineup.
True I can get a unlocked phone now but when they go 3g the picking of unlocked phone will get smaller.
T-Mo does need to pick up there game or lose people like me.

I now have the 6301, and it is a very nice phone for UMA calling. I agree that T-Mobile is lacking on special devices to set them apart, but this phone works great, feels very solid, and has a good feature set.

A direct response from the Boy Genius himself. I don’t remember this ever happening before and I have been commenting on BGR since the blackberry pearl was exclusive to T-mobile. Give me a second to reflect on this moment.

Wow I guess I must have ruffled some feathers with you guys with my comment. I stopped using regular phones ever since I got my first exclusive 7105 bb from T-mobile. Now you asked me for a list of some hot new exclusive TMO phones and your right, beside the sidekicks and the shadow one would have to agree with what you said about T-mobiles lack of new high end phones.

Joshua always seems to be negative about T-mobile, even when it should be a positive report such as when Tmobile rolled out unlimited pooling plans. He just had to state that the cost was too high for adding an other line. I am not saying he is a bad writer but it just seems he is just out t here to get Tmobile.

Its all in how you see things for example you asked me for a list of exclusive Tmobile phones and I agreed saying that they didn’t have many. Yet I could have said that with T-mobiles exclusive use of UMA that all tmo phones that support hotspots@home are exclusive to T-mobile. Wow, now look at T-mobiles line up of high end exclusive pda’s. T-mobile offers not just one but three of the most powerfull blackberries ever designed for UMA calling. The 8120, 8820 and the 8320 are designed to take full advantage T-mobiles exclusive UMA offering and allows callers to make calls using wifi.

Yeah these phones are not the coolest phones in town and the phones are not for everone. The people who are interested with these phone are not going to buy them for how they look but for how they function with making calls over UMA. Someone just planning on getting a basic UMA phone would more then happy ownng one of these new phones.

I can not wait until the end of my T mobile contract, Their coverage in Lake County, east of Cleveland where I live is almost non-existent. They have said for years that they are “working on it”. This is one of the largest population density areas in Ohio. I have five different phones with them. They all have coverage about 50% of the time. HERE T-mobile coverage does suck. And their phone selection is years behind the competition.

Oh and did I mention no 3G?

I spent a month in Japan in 04 and they were communicating with video then on their 3G network. Four years later I am (STILL) stuck with EDGE here…. please..

Dude… Just because the phone isn’t a web-capable, touch screen UMPC, doesn’t mean its yawn inducing. The 6301, at least, is a very nice, capable phone. The UMA calling is a fantastic feature, and this little guy holds onto Wi-Fi signal like a drowning man holding onto a life preserver. Granted, I’d like the ability to download java apps to the device, but aside from that one extremely minor gripe, this phone is solid. Besides, T-Mo needed to get some fresh blood into its UMA lineup. Forcing people to choose between a 6086 or a Blackberry to access this service was a bit short-sighted.

I think T-mobile is focusing on the one aspect of their company that no one is competing with…wifi calling. These UMA phones has no counterpart…call them boring but we all too well understand the bull surround signals within buildings, schools, etc. UMA phones bridge that gap by allowing you to use the wi-fi signal to stay connected.

The phones are borrowing but considering the first UMA phones that came out, these are definetly steping up like they need to.

T-Mobile is great but I guess I never care about there line-up since I am going to buy the latest E or N series phone nokia has anyways and use that.
