Samsung Omnia i900 hitting AT&T in Q3?

That’s what our AT&T boys in blue are sayin’! Want some details on it? Well, it’s rumored to have all the usual AT&T stuff like AT&T Music, AT&T Video, AT&T Navigator, and more. But, it’s also going to have AT&T Mobile TV, too. The other specs are pretty well know: a Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional device with a 5 megapixel camera with face detection, quad-band EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, 3.2″ WQVGA touch screen (sadly it’s 240×400), Bluetooth, and either 8GB or 16GB of internal memory. We’re working on some press shots for y’all, but in the meantime, go on and keep comparing it to the iPhone 3G…
Thanks, Omie!

lol@sprint, instunk what? This is possibly the closest their will be to an iphone killer of some sort. Those of you who went and bought a Samsung Instinct feel free to feel a little bit gypped right about….now. I hope at&t keeps the FM radio on it as well.
Lets see – with A2DP, landscape keyboard on all screens, 16 GB PLUS microSD expansion and tethering, its clearly much better than the 3G iPhone.
This or iphone won’t compare to the bb thunder!
aye dios mio
I can’t wait for this. Though no 3G. I still want it. I need my bluetooth which the new iphone decided to exclude.
@ray, um it has 3.5G, hsdpa……
score 1 for at&t
whenever your ready t mobile
YESSSSSSSS!
I was afraid this wouldn’t come to the states. Praise the LORD!

Can someone confirm that this will have video conferencing? As a deaf person, I gotta have video conferencing.
Wow! The i788 looks busted now compared to this.
iPhone, or Omnia? Decisions, Decisions….
Seriously, guys why do people complain about the screen resolution? As long as the display is readable, why is 240×400 a detraction?
i posted on june 6th. and it is called i907. here is the link

As someone on T-Mobile it is getting harder and harder to stay with them looking at their poor selection of smartphones and non-existent 3G service. Anyone able to advise if a move to at&t is a good/bad move? My initial research says dropped calls are a problem with at&t, also poor coverage. Any thoughts on this?
Is the Omnia and the Instinct the same phone minus Windows Mobile or is it built on a different platform?
This wont do as well as the iPhone even though the specs basically murder the iPhone. but OSX mobile wipes the floor with windows mobile (coming from a Curve user)
This phone will be the iphone if the reps position it right. Much faster and mms is a must….
@Glenn
OSX mobile only “wipes the floor” with WinMo if you don’t consider a far more functional and capable OS more important.
Yeah, if your only consideration is fat finger friendlyness then OSX is better. Use a WinMo phone to get some work done or send an MMS, or record video or…you know the rest
Oh, must have missed that somewhere. THanks, Dayne.
You are correct, windows mobile is more capable and all, but its too sluggish and requires too many steps to do anything. its more capable, but not as user friendly as osx. i prefer neither the iPhone or windows mobile at current, but thats not to say that wont change in the future. i tried winmo on the wing and it was hell
It definitely has potential but it doesn’t have the Touch 3D interface like the Touch Diamond so its doomed to fail like any other wm device.
Looks nice, too bad its going to run WM. Good way to ruin a nice looking phone.
Out of curiosity, would an unlocked SIM-less Omnia(no contract, periodic SIM installation while traveling) version of this manage agps with a mapping app through wi-fi?
For that matter, is the Diamond/Touch-Pro or Xperia able to this?
I’m preparing a trial run proof of concept project pairing one the newer WinMo’s with a Redfly for a company that does not want to be locked to a long term contract that will launch win these phones do.
Thanks.
Whoops, “when” not win.
Who is saying Samsung Instinct is an iPhone killer? It can’t compare. iPhone and iPhone 3G both are going to get first rate third party software to extend their devices. Lots of companies make iPhone specific pages for their sites, and tons of manufacturers make iPhone accessories. With the Instincts inability to have third party software (and if it did it would be crappy java cell phone programs), nobody optimizing their pages for it (and no reason to), and nobody caring about making loads of accessories for it … how the hell is Instinct an iPhone killer? Nobody cares about the instinct. There is not a buzz around that phone like there is with iPhone.
putting winmo on a phone of this caliber is like putting a bikini on a fat chick.
I wonder, will we be able to swap out the winmo, for android when it’s ready? or will that be locked down? Anyone know how that works? B/c I think android is gonna be awesome!
