Vista’s sales lacked based on the fact that I think it may have had been released a bit before it’s time and not only that it didn’t offer many more significant/noticible features for most to make the decision to update.

and as Alex said the truth is most companies will continue to choose no in regards to updating their operating system to vista because at this point the extra money may just be a waste.

Once XP is no longer supported you’ll see companies making the change to Vista. They’ll have no choice.

If you’re in a dual boot mode it may make sense for an individual to choose XP for optimal compatibility. But to choose XP over Vista solely because your familiar with it is a horrible reason. Vista has everything XP has plus more.

I bought a Dell XPS M1530 laptop last month and the first thing I did was remove Vista and install XP. Yes it was too slow.

Vista Rocks, and those who say the contrary have no clue what they are talking about. They probably just read it in some blog and think is cool to keep repeating the same thing over and over.

Microsoft have done nothing to fight this bad perception about vista, which is I believe the product of some haters fanboys. If vista runs slow on your machine is because you need better hardware. That has always been the case when a new OS version comes up, no matter which one.

And for those who keep talking about this extended life business. ¿Did you know that enterprises can still get windows 2000 on their machines? No right? To my surprise that fact hasn’t been used as much, but yeah you can still get it. Microsoft always does that.

You guys have to understand that Microsoft’s core business comes from enterprises and the benefits they (enterprises) receive upgrading from XP to Vista are minimum because XP is a mature OS. That I believe is the only cause of slow adoption to vista, but that does not say that Vista is a bad product. But again, if a blogger says it..it must be true right?…..

I am not a blogger hater (i have my own), i just dislike it when people talk BS without providing facts.

No. Wrong. I got the iMac but wanted the Windows environment. I affirmatively chose xp over vista but it was only because I was familiar with it.

My wife and I laugh our asses off at your spelling. Dude, you can write whatever you want, be as mean as you want, and it doesn’t matter! No one could take offense b/c your spelling is so far out there that no one could think you *want* to be taken seriously.

Maybe English isn’t your first language. It’s not like you’re writing long, elaborate comments and you’re in some huge hurry and can’t proof read it. Your comments tend to be on the shorter side. You wrote, “ive uses macs before an they are unstable.” Are you kidding? You had 6 spelling/grammar errors in comment that was only 32 words long! Unreal. And very, very funny.

But if it’s possible, let me reply to the gist of your comment, in your language, ives been uses macs for only sixx mounths now and ives not had anny problemms with stabilitty yet.

Everyone out there who was pushing for Microsoft to continue to support XP — Already had XP and most likely weren’t upgrading their systems anytime and are more likely to be individuals who build pc’s themselves and upgrade piece by piece and not just by waiting 2-3 years and buying a whole system on it’s own.

I honestly don’t see why any average user would choose XP over Vista.

ive uses macs before an they are unstable PC for life if you don’t like vista thers always linux in the form of ubuntu red hat ect.
the gui is verry modern

I am probably one of the biggest MS haters. I just purchased a laptop with Vista. Outside of it taking a while to boot (similar to OS/2) it has run perfectly. I have not seen the issues that I hear in these forums or in person. I also plan to add a apple to the fold later this year. I also never upgrade a pc. When they get a little old, I pass it on and replace with something new. I still do not understand why we have to have these love hate discussions on this forum. Can’t we have good technical and experience discussions with out all the hate talk if someone does not share your views.

I got an iMac in January. I’m 45. The first Apple product of my life. I LOVE it.
I’m not a very techie guy. I’ve never upgraded any computer I’ve owned. They get a little old, I get a new one. My iMac is not “upgradable”? I don’t know what that means or what I’d upgrade. All I know is that my computing experience has never been easier, or without glitch.
I bought xp – NOT VISTA – to run on bootcamp. Everytime I have to boot up Windows to use word perfect, rarely, I always feeling like I’m in a bad neighborhood.

But I’m a BlackBerry guy. No interest in an iPhone. So I don’t know if that makes me a detested “fanboy” or not.

Having used it for a year, I can honestly say that I prefer XP. To me, Vista is slow and I cannot put my finger on it but it lacks something.

I am an XP guy through and through but when comparing Vista to my daughters Mac OS, I’ll take the Mac any day.

I’m at a complete loss to understand these negative comments about Vista. My Toshiba laptop that I purchased in August/07, and have been using ever since, came with Vista installed on it. I have not experienced problems of any kind. In fact, the more I use Vista, the more I like it.

My comment was a statement of disgust towards Vista, not a show of support for Apple, although I do think they are fun machines. Of course I am writing this on my Dell laptop which I foolishly purchased with Vista. I should have stayed with XP but I do try and support new technology or maybe the wine made me do it. I just dont know.

Got any more “pithy” comments for me or is that your entire repertoire?

HMMMM, so since consumers get a choice for a longer period of time, that will make them go running to Apple?

Funny how all the Apple fanboys say the dumbest things to try to validate their own biases, yet you never see PC enthusiasts doing the same. Go ahead Wes, stick with that non-upgradeable overpriced machine. Just because Opus I is $165 a bottle, doesn’t mean it’s the best bottle of wine in town.
