Sidekick LX OTA walkthrough
Ok, chaps. We just got the much-awaited Sidekick LX OTA courtesy of the good folks over at Danger. And yes, it does record video! Aren’t you excited? We detailed a long list of what the OTA contains, but we’ll post it again to give you a recap:
- Capture videos using the new video mode
- Playback from the SD card or email attachments using the media player
- Share videos via email, Picture messaging, and Bluetooth
- Listen to songs or videos using a stereo Bluetooth device
- Send and receive photos, videos, or music via Bluetooth
- 3 IM clients & enhancements to AIM® and Yahoo!® Messenger
- Create and join group chats
- See who is logged into IM from the address book or email and instantly start a conversation
- Set a custom status message then keep chatting
- Search for friends in a buddy list
- Got more buddies than you can keep track of? See who’s online right from the address book or email, and search for friends in your buddy lists
- Select how Web pages are displayed based on preference
- PC-like, full-size layout to pan & scan while reading o Standard Sidekick screen-size layout to simply scroll down the page to read · Mini Page to zoom out on an overview of an entire Web page
- Save images from Web pages to the SD card Personalize the way you want to surf
- Device does not restart after a download. Just install an item, and it’s ready to use
- Capture videos and share them directly from the Camera app
- Video integration for playback, send, and save to gallery

I’ve been waiting over a month. I was at a tmo store a month ago & the guy told me that u can record video so I looked into it. & yes it was true. he told me it was goin to come out july 25th. I’m trying so hard to be patient. its getting harder. come on Danger. we deserve it!!
how do u change youtube into .3gp?
When will this OTA update come out? How do I get it? i have a sidekick lx but no internet…so how do i get it?
i work for tmobile. we have people calling in all the time asking for that update..guys calm down.. you guys will get it sooner or later if you guys have the sidekick lx. it’s no big deal. no you will not be able to play youtube videos. we were first told you were but once we started handling issues with the ota it was seen that you can’t. To clarify things if you have not received the update you might receive it by the end of july or beginning of august. WE DO NOT HAVE A WAY TO SEND THE UPDATE SO STOP CALLING AND ASKING IF WE CAN SEND IT!!! WE CANNOT!!!! IF YOU DON’T HAVE THE UPDATE IT COULD BE UP UNTIL THE END OF THE SUMMER UNTIL YOU GUYS GET IT. calm down you will all get it eventually!!!!
Do pre-paid customers w/ the lx get the OTA update as well? Just wondering…

I’m still waiting for the update as well, in the Atlanta area. Anyone in Atlanta get it yet?
Its July 20, and I still haven’t seen the update… I’m in the San Diego area, so I’m wondering if they’re hitting the west coast last? I’d love to see these updates soon! Its pretty much making the LX what it should have been in the first place. I’m the most excited about spell check and stereo bluetooth!
yea that t mobile rep can be an ass cause he already has his update well its 4:00 in jersey no update non of my friends have theres so where it at maybe in stead of bein an ass he could of given us an actual date.

harsh words but they are truthful words. sorry guys but the truth sometimes hurts and i userstand if you guys can’t deal with your feelings another way. and no i have not gotten my upddate. i am patiently waiting for the update like everybody else. i just don’t go crazy for something like an update for a phone. i do have a life outside of my job and my phone. sorry to let you guys down like that. and yes all sidekick lx devices which include flexpay, regular, and prepaid are getting the update as long as you guys have the sidekick internet added onto your account. if you don’t then once again you guys are out of luck. any more questions or critizism feel free to post i will answer you. just remember that i cannot lie and i will be truthful and if the truth hurts might as well not post because you might get hurt.

in order to get this update , do you need to have internet on your SK , like the G ? cus currently i dont have the internet or aim on my LX due to my change in phone plan’s .

zomg guys chill the hell out!!!yall are saying yall dont want yalls phone? why?the update doesnt make it much better,,,i would know…i have mine already!! and its cool and all but it slows down your device….bad…and is 20 seconds of videos that important? the video quality isnt even that good. and tabbed email is purrty cool….for those that even use email…i do like the file transfers over bluetooth =) and my mom cant get anough of the save image from the web feature..she like makes me send her pics so she can use them as backgrounds….and i like the minipage and the full screen page layout….and as soon as i find software to convert vids into .3gp i love the new media player…but all in all its not ttthhhhaaaatttt big of a deal….

Wth I jus herd of this update but I don’t now any one with it yet for some reason I don’t belive this ill jus have to wait and see cause its been a while since they were going to start the update
I want my update, are there any signs that you’re phone wants to update? Lately I’ve been loosing service a lot, maybe it can be that my area’s service sucks? lol idk.
omg yall is a contraction just like cant get over it, and yeah its a good thing but i wouldnt throw my sk away if i didnt get it. like why is it that important that yall get it so fast?
I have had my service going in & out as well, so maybe that’s a sign. As I posted on another forum, I’ve seen the bytes transferred & bytes received change quite a few times, so I wonder if that has to do w/ anything? Did any of you pay attention to that. Hey yall I just got my ota update today at 131 pm it is awsome you will know when you got it when your G7 sighn starts flushin like crazy Iits awsome it shocked me and I was so freakin happy
