Sidekick LX OTA walkthrough
Ok, chaps. We just got the much-awaited Sidekick LX OTA courtesy of the good folks over at Danger. And yes, it does record video! Aren’t you excited? We detailed a long list of what the OTA contains, but we’ll post it again to give you a recap:
- Capture videos using the new video mode

- Search for friends in a buddy list
- Got more buddies than you can keep track of? See who’s online right from the address book or email, and search for friends in your buddy lists

- PC-like, full-size layout to pan & scan while reading o Standard Sidekick screen-size layout to simply scroll down the page to read · Mini Page to zoom out on an overview of an entire Web page

Thiz makz me sooo happy I waz jus tryna figure out how 2 outsmart the phone n send videoz….yea…so much 4 intiative. But I don’t understand, u jus wake up 1 day n da application iz on it? Or iz it a certain way 2 upgrade?
the update was supposed to be out today and its like almost 11 at night and i still havent gotten it, i called tmobile and they said i have the untill the end of july to receive it thats ridiculous, also about the update there is to parts to it so you could get the first part of the update and not get the second part until a week or two later.
I’m so excited to get the OTA update. I still plan on searching for new phones. Just to experince new thing like you-tube. Now that would be a good update. Hell I would marry the sidekick if it get you-tube cabability. I hope I get mines by 2morrow. Good luck to the rest of you guys.

I was thinkn bout gettn me a bb pearl that had the video playback on it that tmo offers “EXCLUSIVELY”… but when I heard bout this ota update… I didn’t… and I agree, the sk plan is the best plan yet!!!!… that’s y I didn’t go thru wit buyin the pearl… I feel im not gettn my $ worth wit the bb plan.. But I can’t wait til I get this update.. I felt I dwn graded cause this is my 1st phn w/o video… but it won’t b after this ota, god I love my sidekick… like my own handheld laptop…lol.
oh man i hope i get this OTA soon i want it so badly. im bout to piss in my pants. cant wait till it hits the NYC area

Lol….I personally believe that blackberrys are the best phones tmobile has…too bad the services of tmobile are so limited…soo limited that you might as well get the bb from another carrier that ALLOWS GPSSSSS!!…lol..oh and shysha the reason why sk is so much of a bargain compared to bb is because of the markets they are targeting…business people typically are the ones who can truely benefit from the blackberrys services and Students in HS and college who are in the peak of their” social networking phase” can benefit from the inexpensive plans and services of the Sidekick. The sidekick is hott as hell though..I’m not really interested in the update…the camera sux ass so I don’t think its worth it.. But again that’s just my opinion…

HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN THE OTA REACHES YOU?
Justin, your Sidekick will tell you when its ready to downloas the OTA…you don’t have to search for it in your download catelog or anything..just sit and wait…
*in a whisper* “you will know!” lol
But really, your device will notify you when the OTA is ready to be installed.

no one cares about the sidekick id its an ugly chuck of mess i think the reason the LX is getting the upgrade is becuase its a better looking phone that can handle it.
the slide is ugly and doesnt deserve one and the id doesnt even have a camera on it so it would be pointless!!!

I have a question..
As we all know, the sidekick is prone to restarting if you do too many things with it. Have you noticed the ability to do video with out getting that little graphic in the top left corner that means its gonna restart?

i currently just switched from verizon to tmobile about a couple weeks now honestly for the lx. so far so good i love it. im just hoping that since i am a new member, they would ship my ota to me first lol but i guess i aint that lucky ha. i am pretty excited about this ota and about this phone and for all you sk haters, straight up blow me cause you probably dont got no moneys to drop for this phone and just wanna hate on people who got it..anyways to all my skers, keep kickin and hope that we all get this damn ota soon
Yeah I was pretty burnt when I bought my new bluetooth headset today and discovered I couldn’t listen to music when I figured I could. The good news was I found out about the OTA update 4 hours later! Cheers danger, hook me up!
For those of you itching for the OTA: I don’t know if this trick still works, but it worked when I had my sidekick II.
The OTA is distributed randomly, but it is decided when the sidekick pings and asks the update server if there are any updates to download. It might say yes, it might say no.
So, what a couple of us did, was to turn our phone off, and turn it back on. Wait about 5 minutes, and watch the “7″ looking line next to the “G”. If it starts pulsing like crazy and is transferring data nonstop for 5-10 minutes, that’s your OTA update coming. If it just stays still and shows no activity, then power the phone off and restart – repeat until you see the OTA coming.
Not sure if this still works. Worked on my older SKs like a charm though, took about 10-15 tries.

Will I be able to watch videos on the browser with ota and listen to songs on myspace
i got tired of waiting for the ota so went to vzw and got that new lg dare it’s phatt killing the lx
and it plays wmv files
How long will it take to install once I actually get it?
