Sprint rolls out QChat in 40 markets, chirping heard ’round the world.
In a move that’s sure to spark a new round of music video appearances, Sprint has just announced that they are rolling out their next-generation push-to-talk service QChat in an additional 40 markets. Amongst the new cities receiving the instant connection treatment are Austin, TX, Boston, MA, Chicago, IL, and many others. Additionally, Sprint made 4 new QChat-capable handsets available today to commemorate the event. You can now purchase the LG LX400 for $79.99, the Samsung Z400 for $99.00, as well as the Sanyo Pro 700 for $79.99 and the Sanyo Pro 200 for $49.99. As usual, nothing about these handsets is going to impress your executive board, but at least you can “wow” your friends with that lightening quick connection time, right?
Now the ptt volleys are going to ramp up now that the bigger carriers have 3g, VOIP ptt. I wish some more info on my favorite brand, Sanyo, and thier Pro series was known
what was the point of replacing ptt with qchat? i use to have NEXTEL and the walkie talkie feature was fast effortless and extremely easy. my 8 year old cousin was even capable of starting convos. with me with ptt
QChat is PTT, it’s simply designed differently to work on Sprint’s network over EVDO Rev A. He’ll still be perfectly capable, and the only thing you should notice is the different phone and different coverage areas.
