Sidekick LX OTA hits the streets June 25th, contains madness
If you’re like us, you’re not giving that Tony Hawk Sidekick LX the time of day. But, you don’t want to feel left out when all the other cool kids in school are taking videos of their gnarly sk8board tricks. What’s a Sidekick-toting fellow to do? Well, the much-awaited OTA update for the LX will hit on June 25th. It will be a rolling OTA as usual (they slowly spread it out across the devices which can sometimes take up to 4 weeks) and we’ve got the exact details on what it will contain. Below is an easy-to-read version of what we were able to translate.
- Capture videos using the new video mode
- Playback from the SD card or email attachments using the media player
- Share videos via email, Picture messaging, and Bluetooth
- Listen to songs or videos using a stereo Bluetooth device
- Send and receive photos, videos, or music via Bluetooth
- 3 IM clients & enhancements to AIM® and Yahoo!® Messenger
- Create and join group chats
- See who is logged into IM from the address book or email and instantly start a conversation
- Set a custom status message then keep chatting
- Search for friends in a buddy list
- Got more buddies than you can keep track of? See who’s online right from the address book or email, and search for friends in your buddy lists
- Select how Web pages are displayed based on preference
- PC-like, full-size layout to pan & scan while reading o Standard Sidekick screen-size layout to simply scroll down the page to read · Mini Page to zoom out on an overview of an entire Web page
- Save images from Web pages to the SD card Personalize the way you want to surf
- Device does not restart after a download. Just install an item, and it’s ready to use
- Capture videos and share them directly from the Camera app
- Video integration for playback, send, and save to gallery
- QuickFind: search for keywords across applications to find messages or information
- Spell Checker

I talked to the tech support 4 tmobile u shud talk 2 them about this kinda stuff they said june 25th they sent a couple 2 c if there r n e bugs she said every1 else shud b gettin the OTA over the next 5 weeks….So b coo n u will get it u jus gotta b patient…regretably no youtube still…
damn all i did to get my update was turn my phoe off for like a minute then i turned it back on & it came up!!! =)
I got the update and it’s awesome!…I jus kept restarting my fone( powering it on and off) until i seen the G7 ..start pulsing like crazy……and it takes about and hour or so…but it’s worth it…Jus keep trying and dont give up..
Hey I just got the update this morning….its awesome….I have been waitn impatiently for so long…..but please believe me its worth it…..im in oklahoma n the update is just making it this way

I have had an iphone since early spring 08′. Prior to that I had the SKLX. I turned off the SKLX and started using the iphone with AT&T service. In the beginning I loved the phone, you couldnt tell me anything negative about the iphone. After they sent an update saying that the IPhone supported third party apps I was even more in the cheering section for the iphone. UNTIL, I noticed that Iphone no matter 1st gen or 3g does not run ANY third party apps in the back ground. So if you are not in the AIM screen you will not receive any messages. Also it dosent record video, and you have to set your phone up to do random checks for email even though you pushed it to your phone. I’m disappointed in the iphone, however it is what it is, an “Internet Phone” vs the SKLX being a “Messaging phone” I guess its all on what you want and what you are looking for in a phone. The Iphone is a great phone but hey it is what it is. I’m glad that I didnt get rid of the LX cause I would rather stay connected than watch a movie on my phone, which I can do when I get home.
Hahahaha wow people learn to spell mind your own business and let sidekick users be happy its a nice phone (sklx had an ID) no 3g who cares now its got video what’s not to like eh? So its an unoffical smartphone blah blah blah blah people are probably going to nag at me for writing this but I think the sidekick series is one of the greatest phones out there
PS – No more trying to convert people looking for a sidekick to get a crapBone I mean iPhone or a CockFairy I mean BlackBerry
