Sidekick LX OTA hits the streets June 25th, contains madness
If you’re like us, you’re not giving that Tony Hawk Sidekick LX the time of day. But, you don’t want to feel left out when all the other cool kids in school are taking videos of their gnarly sk8board tricks. What’s a Sidekick-toting fellow to do? Well, the much-awaited OTA update for the LX will hit on June 25th. It will be a rolling OTA as usual (they slowly spread it out across the devices which can sometimes take up to 4 weeks) and we’ve got the exact details on what it will contain. Below is an easy-to-read version of what we were able to translate.
- Capture videos using the new video mode
- Playback from the SD card or email attachments using the media player
- Share videos via email, Picture messaging, and Bluetooth
- Listen to songs or videos using a stereo Bluetooth device
- Send and receive photos, videos, or music via Bluetooth
- 3 IM clients & enhancements to AIM® and Yahoo!® Messenger
- Create and join group chats
- See who is logged into IM from the address book or email and instantly start a conversation
- Set a custom status message then keep chatting
- Search for friends in a buddy list
- Got more buddies than you can keep track of? See who’s online right from the address book or email, and search for friends in your buddy lists
- Select how Web pages are displayed based on preference
- PC-like, full-size layout to pan & scan while reading o Standard Sidekick screen-size layout to simply scroll down the page to read · Mini Page to zoom out on an overview of an entire Web page
- Save images from Web pages to the SD card Personalize the way you want to surf
- Device does not restart after a download. Just install an item, and it’s ready to use
- Capture videos and share them directly from the Camera app
- Video integration for playback, send, and save to gallery
- QuickFind: search for keywords across applications to find messages or information
- Spell Checker

I recently purchased a sidekick lx I love it… am curently learning to type with out looking:p and I would like to now if we need to buy the phone all over again or its an on air update…. does this OTA automatically download to our SK? and if so, what is the process..

I don’t think the OTA is fake. I called a rep from T-Mobile’s sidekick dept. yesterday about it. And the new Tony Hawk Sidekick LX has it. I don’t think the rep knew what he was talking about though when I asked him about the OTA. The conversation went somewhat like this:
Me: “The OTA update for the Sidekick LX has started correct?”
Rep: “No, it will start sometime this month in July. It’s not even activated yet. And not everyone will get it. Only a certain few to see if the public likes it”
Me: “Not activated yet? The new Tony Hawk Sidekick LX already comes with the update on it. How can you say it’s not activated yet?”
Rep: “Oh, well, I don’t know then.”
Oooo well I don’t know hopefully every1 will get it.
The OTA update is coming late july. Very late july. if u dont get it by Auguast 1st you are out of luck.

This new upgrade is great for sidekick users but the problm is that this article said that it will me out june 25 and it’s also most a month since it’s should be out.when is the upgrade gonna get to the sidekicks?????
First thing first Tmobile reps don’t know shit ive called for almost a week straight 2 times a day and they all say something different… Then I found out it has nothing to do with Tmobile but with Danger….. Danger are the ones sending out the OTA and there is no way to contact them by phone only by email which is really gay… there scared of piss off customers like us (pussy). Just say screw the side kick lx and every other sidekick to come cause there customer service F***in sucks…. I should of kept my T mobile Dash at least It had emulators with 400 games. sorry had to vent

MY HOMEGIRL GOT HER SIDEKICK LX OTA UPDATE JULY 24th AT 6pm! LOL so im expecting mine well all of us 2 get it between today and aug 5th maxxed!

The videos record small, but you can expand the size once you’re done recording. I swear, I was freaking happy, cuz I’ve been waiting for like ever for this shit to come, and now it has

I recently got my update and it is increditable it is like the browsing web on a laptop it is great the bvideo recorder is great also
Its not fair I have known about this for months and still havent gotten the OTA and my sister just got hers today. I do hope everyone gets it.
