CodeMorphic puts the world at your fingertips
We’ve seen some pretty cool applications built from the iPhone SDK, but this one certainly ranks amongst our favorites thus far. CodeMorphic has put together a set of dev tools that will allow iPhone software developers to access satellite imagery, global weather info, time zone information, and more, all from the comfort of a multi-touch interface. The video above is merely being billed as evidence of a proof-of-concept, but if the real thing looks as good as the demo, we think they might want to consider dropping this as a full fledged application. Anyone as excited as we are for the 11th of July?

Pretty cool I guess if you are doing sat programs….

Typical iPhone application: Flashy, useful for showing off, but very little functionality.
Apple made the iPhone’s GPS impotent.
Android HTC Dream has every bit of the iPhone’s graphical capabilities, with the addition of functionality. Someone actually designed an Android app that makes the alarm go off a minute before a Bus drives into his street so he won’t wait in the rain! All he needs to do is insert his destination and Android does the rest.
This iPhone app generated an instant “wow” in me, but then the only use I see for it is to show off my phone to my tech-savvyless friends.
NB - Why didn’t the image’s detail cache in when he zoomed in?

I can see this app freezing the phone to a brick fro about 5 minutes while you try frantically to reset it but you cant rip the battery because apple still hasn’t seen the importance of having a removable battery.

Jeff B. welcome back. The phone does reset, doesn’t need battery pull to do it though, its not a Blackberry.
TareX, go back and read the description above and watch it again, its a set of Dev tools for developers who need sat images. Its not an app that you would use in everyday use.
and where’s the video of this android app? Android will be great but where are all the video of it running? I’m interested in something good but want to see a final product running.

Isn’t geo-caching not allowed with iPhone’s GPS? This is a major restriction.
Here’s the only recent video of Android running:

As for the BUS program, it was mentioned on an Interview with one of the Engineering directos of Android, along with many other crazy GPS-related applications that have been developed using the SDK.
The dev tool is great, it is. But with geo-caching disabled its use for the mainstream is very limited…
