New Sprint plans coming next week
Just in time for the arrival of the Samsung Instinct, Sprint is preparing to unleash a new set of plans on an unsuspecting public. Starting June 15th, the carrier will be making a number of significant changes. The full rundown is detailed below, but expect new single-user lines starting at $39 for 450 minutes, no more free incoming plans, and the end of separate pricing structures for Sprint and Nextel handsets. The ever-exploitable SERO plan remains ripe for the picking, but will sadly not be compatible with the upcoming Instinct. Check out the full list of changes:
- There will no longer be separate CDMA (Sprint) and iDen (Nextel) plans
- Power Pack and Free Incoming plans are gonzo
- Users can mix and match CDMA and iDen on the same plans (before you had to have separate accounts)
- Single user lines start at 450 or 900 min for $39 and $59 respectively
- Talk/Message/Connect gives unlimited messaging and Direct Connect (Walkie Talkie) but no data – $49.99 for 450 minutes, $69.99 for 900 minute or $89.99 for unlimited.
- Everything Plans (include messaging and data) – $69 for 450 minutes, $89 for 900 minutes or $99 for unlimited minutes
- Unlimited plans include navigation, TV and Direct Connect
- Smartphone MUST be activated on a talk plan with a Vision Pro pack ($30) – or on an Everything plan
- Share plans (aka Talk Share) start at $69.99 for two lines with 700 minutes – add a phone is $9.99 per to a max of 5 total phones on the line
- The Talk/Message Share plans run $99.99 and $149.99 for 1500 and 3000 minutes and unlimited messaging, additional lines are also $9.99. Finally, the Talk/Message/Data Share plans run $129.99 or $169.99 for 1500 and 3000 minutes, unlimited messaging and data. Besides browsing, these plans include Sprint Navigation, Sprint TV and Sprint Radio. Additional lines can be added for $19.99 apiece.

Is there an extra charge for DC on the fam plans and will there ever be a review of the Instinct?
What’s a SERO plan?
Sounds like next step towards Nextel phasing out. And sounds like Sprint prepping plans for CDMA PTT.
I have free incoming so when this change takes place will it be a breach in contract or are they going to honor it until my contract is up?
@ Bart
SERO= pretty much = the best plan in existence (globally), a lot of features are include/unlimited on it, the lowest being only $37(including est tax).
Sprint overcharged my small (US) company for over $50,000.00. We caught them doing it and now they refuse to refund the over-payments. You can read the full story at http://www.sprint-really-sucks.com
I also wrote an open letter to Dan Hesse the Chairman and CEO of Sprint Nextel. It is a good read so please consider reading the letter.

Existing plans users are usually able to keep that plan until you update your handset.
They wi honor all the old plans, but once you switch to a new plan there is no going back so be careful.
Wow Allen…
That’s Crazy! I’m glad you used the phrasing “My Personal Theory” when describing Sprints motivations.
Has your story been on 60 minutes yet? I definitely know FRONTLINE loves to eat guys like this for lunch, dinner, and then breakfast!
Next time I go to their site I’m going to send them your link. I know it seems your site is a blog but you should try if possible to title recent updates at the start. Just a suggestion. But the way you lay out the ISP stuff is jokes. [Although your situation is far from it]
Continue the Good Fight I know you’ll win in the end. Truth always does… Just not as fast as one might like.
i wonder if they will knock SERO when the HTC Touch line comes to play…
@Allen,
That is nothing. My company has been using Sprint for about three years. Our monthly bill is roughly $170k and every month we have about $20k+ in disputes and erroneous charges. (That’s the price you pay for cheap service). My team is repsonsible for reconciling this bill and it typically takes 8-10 hours to do so; and that’s with the process highly automated.
The biggest issue is we have a set price for the phones we use Treo 755p and they never charge us the correct price. we are typically over charged by about $300 per phone. I pay the bill each month minus the disputes and battle it out with them. You should do the same, good luck.
Thanks for the feedback.
SERO = Sprint Employee Referral Offer.
$30 Plan: 500 anytime minutes, with included unlimited data, unlimited text, picturemail, and Sprint TV basic, and of course nights at 7PM (yes unlimited M2M)
$50 Plan: same, but 1250 anytime minus
Now it makes sense?
Now if you have a blackberry, obviously PowerVision (bundled with the plan) isn’t compatible with it, so they made Sero Voice Only Plans… but for the same price includes more minutes cause you have to purchase BIS separate. So $50 plan includes 1750 instead of 1250 and then on top of that you’ll purchase the $30 or $40 BB Data plan, which includes ulimited text as well. Only difference is if you want PAM
Why couldn’t someone just purchase the Instinct Phone without a contract? Does the Instinct access the Sprint network differently than other smartphones such as the Moto Q?
