BlackBerry Thunder live shot, damn we’re good!

You all know the Thunder right? Well, looky looky who got a cookie. Yeah peoples, live shot of the BlackBerry Thunder right here. By just looking at the photo, we can see that almost every button on a traditional BlackBerry like the convenience keys are still there. Like we reported, there are only four physical buttons on the front and a large touch-screen. It is also coming to Verizon. Take a look at a larger shot after the jump and stay tuned for more information on it soon. Wow, we were almost spot on with our mock-up

This doesn’t make any sense to me…at&t sells the most Blackberries out of any other company, why would they go with verizon?

I think CDMA is sub-standard in General. I only like GSM. You’ll really hate it when you can’t switch between phones. I have AT&T and T-Mobile and I think they are better because they are GSM carriers. Verizon and Sprint cripple phones because they design the UI and get to choose the features. Verizon always puts that ugly red custom UI on it’s phones because they “want to make it as easy on their customers as possible.” With AT&T and especially T-Mobile, they have the manufacture’s UI and they don’t cripple features at all. T-Mobile even goes out of the way to add Instant Messaging services to the phone, you have to download nothing at all.

I will be yawning until I see the touch screen in action. I use a Curve currently by the way. Apple still has a edge on marketing too. We will see.

@ anyone who said at&t was giving the farm away with the iphone… yes at&t is giving money to apple for every iphone they sell but that would normally be money they would have lost on subsidizing the cost of the handset. they also aren’t using their warranty centers for the iphone which is saving them money. so they cut the data cost to the customer, give a little back to apple and every iphone customer is cheaper for at&t in the long run…

AT&T themselves are not (and have not) made anything on the iPhone. Apple is the only party benefiting on sales. AT&T ‘just sells the phone’ but all profit is going pretty much straight to Apple.

I guess you are forgetting all the new customers that ported over from other carriers to get the iphone.

Supposed to be a VZ and Vodafone (if I remember correctly) worldwide, lifetime exclusive, no? If not, you can expect to see it on Bell or Telus, inc.

To confirm: there is no GSM version of this in the pipeline, correct?

And timing of this leak is… interesting to say the least. So, was this one passed on from up high, BG? RIM’s PR ninjas just drop you off a little present via anonymous email? Maybe Verizon’s??

Ha, so an announcement today of all times with Apple announcing their iPhone 3G tomorrow. Looks like RIM is trying to take a little ‘thunder’ away from Apple’s conference tomorrow. Pun intended.

Keep dreaming. The iphone will be the news story for the next few weeks. Aside from a few BB sites, there will be very little if any mention of the thunder.

Man its great to be a MobileTechFan right now. I think this is a good look for BlackBerry and it will definitely sell because Verizon is going to make this a consumer device.

The last time a completely unannounced BB device with a new form factor leaked on BGR (Kickstart), RIM gained something like 2-3 BILLION DOLLARS in stock value in less than 48 hours. So yeah, quite a few people will care about the Thunder.

If you knew anything about carriers the reason why AT&T is not getting it is because they do not have the data capabilities that VZW has called EVDO in more markets than slow AT&T. VZW was smart in turning down the iphone because they predicted how much of a dumpy phone it is. It’s Apple! What else do I need to say?

I dont understand the people that think this device is stupide, due to the lack of a keyboard. It’s that “one trick pony” philosophy that doomed Motorola. Blackberry will sell millions of these things and for those who are worried about having a keyboard; last time i checked Blackberry has a few other devices that have that.

I compleely agree with the other posting. Why would any blackberry phone ever choose SLOW ATT&T who got the low end of the bargin (iphone) (btw, it sucks……big time, I would just love to buy a phone for 100s mopre and get half the memory, it just makes sense donesnt it?) God you are such an ****in idiot. learn your phopnes and join the better, more relieable, and faster company. Grow up you panzy

For those of you that don’t know. RIM signed an agreement with Verzon/Vodaphone where they must sell a certain amount and then the Thunder becomes a LIFETIME EXCLUSIVE! That means NO OTHER CARRIERS CAN ‘EVER’ GET THIS PHONE. If by chance they don sell enough, it will also go to other carriers, but that’s not going to happen, not by a long shot.

I think this is brilliant. If they take on the iPhone directly, they most likely will lose. Consider that RIM will now be attacking iPhone’s home-turf of media and consumer usage (although that might change after tomorrow).

So the solution: flank them. take advantage of the fact that carriers ALSO fight, not just manufacturers. Since the market is split to begin with, they have some safety in isolation by going with Verizon.

at least that’s what I think.
