Video: Hands on with the Nokia N78

There are some handsets that are born crowd splitters, no question. For some people it’s love at first sight and others won’t even bat an eye. Nokia’s first Feature Pack 2 device to come to market, the N78, is just that. It’s sleek, thin and different with smooth lines and and a nice form factor. At the same time it’s a quirky handset with an atypical keypad and a back cover with an odd pattern. Specs-wise, it has plenty of juice; 3.2 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and autofocus, internal GPS and OEM geotagging, integrated FM transmitter, and so on. Are specs enough incentive for the user to work through it’s oddities though? We’ll let you be the judge. Enjoy the 16 minutes of N78 walkthrough-love and then let us know what you think.

Is the D-Pad actually worse than the N82’s? The N82’s is pretty bad, but you can get used to it over time. I would have though it was better, because it does look a little more raised…

dimsum05, I haven’t spent a lot of time with the N82 because of the lack of AT&T 3G. I remember it being bad, but I pretty much can’t go 2 minutes without a mis-key on the N78 d-pad.

Borg, They are not touch sensitive. The face beneath the screen is one solid plastic piece so I see why it might appear that way.
