im happy with my htc pro but i fnd that i need to recharge it everyday…is it just happening to me? and btw i just browse couple of pages do some excel work and recieve a couple of phone calls

I’ve had my Touch Pro for 2 weeks now, upgrading from my HTC Universal. It’s really good, but not great, what I wanted was my Universal, a bit thinner, a bit faster and with lots more memory. The htc touch pro was the closest I could see to it. It’s downsides to me

Windows Mobile, expect resets.

Slid out not clamshell, tricky to use on a desk

Screen is small, usable but I liked the Universals big screen

Same for the keyboard, typing speed much down from the Universal but a world better than any non physical keyboard.

No 3.5mm headphone socket, c’mon HTC what were you thinking?!?! no listening while charging, can’t use my existing headphones, this really really sucks. I don’t want to carry an adaptor in addition to my phone

built in GPS seems a bit quirky, not as good as using an external GPS when inside a moving vehicle.

The Iphone wasn’t an option to me, my minimum requirement was to be able to run my remote desktop s/w and the IPhone failed at the first hurdle.

the US version keyboard looks wack.. number keys are like the Tilt within the letter keys not the top row like EU version and grey not black.

Also, the phone is quite small. I mean it is as thick as the HTC Kaiser or Tytn II, but it is thinner and it looks a lot like Nokia N95. It is a very capable device and video playback is incredible. The VGA screen is small but it does make up for it with clarity and brightness. I have not seen a better screen on a phone of this size.
Also, just to throw in my tuppenny worth in here, iPhone sucks. Yes it is 3G, but it is a bloody media player for heaven’s sake. It’s not a serious business tool. It would NOT replace the Blackberry or Windows-based Mobile devices for business or educational purposes. End of story. It just isn’t that versatile and the applications available are hindered by the iPhone’s virtually useless touchscreen keypad. I couldn’t care less for the business crew, since I am a Master’s student and have been using Windows based devices for a long time to make notes, record lectures, send/receive emails, write essays and compose letters. This kind of work cannot be handled by the iPhone with alacrity or with any level of professional efficiency. Yes, iPhone is good for what it is, but I hate it when people try to sell it as a business device. I have worked in some Mega Corporations in London, one of which is a huge broadcasting organisation, and whilst I was there, the iPhone was perceived as a joke. You could do more with the Nokia N93i even. I mean, iPhone is great for teenager’s who only want to browse the web and listen to a few tunes, but it in the end, it is just another multimedia device, with a phone tacked on as an afterthought. It lacks many features that some other hones have, such as front VGA camera, Camera Flash, or even Video recording. It fails on almost every level as a smartphone. Apple should have produced a MAC OS based PDA, with a slide out keyboard and iPod functionality as an added bonus – then, it may have even been worth the bloated price. I have nothing against Apple, as I find their computers to be superior to Windows based machines and their products are of the highest quality, but I do not think the iPhone qualifies as being a quality product – you get far less for what you pay, and other phones can also do what it is does best, arguably in a far better way (and you don’t have to use iTunes). It is hardly revolutionary, and I am not sure how long people have had Edge/3G in the US, in Europe it’s been going for a long time, so adding 3G to it is neither here nor there, since it has been a standard feature on even the crummiest of handsets. Maybe there are some people here who have bought iPhones and feel the need to justify their vanity and loss of monies by dissing other devices that are designed for a completely different kind of user.
iPhone is a toy, not a great communication tool (unless your idea of a great communications tool is to spend ten minutes just typing something simple with a clunky virtual keyboard). I highly recommend the HTC Touch Pro to students and business professionals and until something more useful comes on the market (the Sony Xperia is shaping up nicely), the Pro has the potential to become the leader in its market. I am ready to take on the bile from the Apple fanboys. Why be a fan of a Corporate, anyway? A good product is just that, I mean undying loyalty is as stupid as patriotism or…..the ‘R word’ (and its twisted variants the world over).

The main difference between the two handsets is that the Touch Pro has a slide out qwerty keyboard. It also has a memory card slot – unlike the Diamond.

My only gripe with this phone is that there are no softkey buttons like on my Mogul.

My mogul has a 1500mAh and I blow threw it in 1/3 of a day. I know 6.1 has some improvements in it that help with this, but come on, 1/3 a day? That is nuts.

I like the touchFLO UI, it is clean and elegant. Smooth and Fluid. And the phone packs every features in a compact form factor. I would say it is probably the best smartphone of the year. Of course, Sony X1 is also right up there.

A really thick phone, with a really non-widescreen display, running a slow GUI.

If you’re dying to get a WM phone, wait for the Xperia X1.
Otherwise, the supersonic HTC Dream and iPhone 3G are the obvious better options.

Looks like HTC wants all their phones to look very much alike. The problems with this sucker are no 3G, and the batterery is WAY to small. I would gladly give some millimeters in thickness to get a better batterey, and 3G.

This phone is announced at T-mob UK and will be called T-mobile MDA vario IV so basically will replace vario III.
Does that mean it will replace TyTN 2, in a way, yes.
For the slider to open left, it used to be so with original TyTN and I guess people complained about the TyTN 2 where it was on the right.
Personally, much prefer the left.

T-mob UK says end of Q3 if not later …

I dont see how that is even thick, a sidekick lx is freaking thick. That looks sexy as hell.

Can’t believe we gotta untill like after summer. ARGHHH F?@k…. I guess they wanna give the TYTN II at least one year running then to replace it fast. I disagree, that crap off the market and the HTC Touch Pro on as soon as possible with all the gripes everyone is having with it.. If only one man really did have control over the business instead of a million shareholders……

that keyborad reminds me of my old 8125’s and i dont like the number keys on top row because it is more difficult to type the numbers when you hold ‘ctrl’.

i like 8525 and at&t tilt’s keyboard better because it is much easier to type the #s in my opinion.
