Rose Dishes iPhone Rumors and Financial Advice
Cewebrity Digg boy Kevin Rose has built an empire from the ground up, no question. Legions of fans get as excited for Diggnation as your girl got for the Sex and the City movie (our condolences for the loss of your manhood if you were dragged out to it). If it’s all the same though we’ll stick to our brokers for investment direction, thanks Kevin. Rose does love to dish an iPhone rumor here and there though, and a couple of things he tossed out in a quickie Seesmic video recently have piqued our interest. Well, not really, but maybe they’ll pique your interest. First off, Rose states that the 3G iPhone will be available next week. We’ve long since thought June 9th to be the official announcement date but according to Kev-o you can have your cake and eat it too. Secondly, rumors flew around for a while that the new 3G iPhone may be subsidized by AT&T and available for a measly $200 with a 2-year contract. According to Rose however, the 3G iPhone will come in around the current iPhone price point and the low-end iPhone (does he mean the current 3G-less model or a new low-end model? Your guess is as good as ours) will be subsidized and available at the $200 mark. Hmm.
uh remember last time he “leaked info about the first iphone? how it was going to have two batteries? yeah i think im gonna take this with a (very small) grain of salt.

Anyone else feeling that this 3G iPhone bit is too little almost too late? I’m not sure if Apple expects this new one to have the same impact, but this just seem a bit off key for them. I cannot deny that it’s a beautiful phone, but just seems a bit…eh now.

after experiencing symbian i dont think adding 3g and even gps will do much for the iphone
for the fans theyll still love it but it wont be enough for everyone else
but of course these are just rumors. i cant wait to see the real product and if it pushes the bar again i may have to get it.

I think those are Joan Miro prints behind him, pretty light weight in my book, unless of course they are real, but I doubt it.

Besides Apple stores are all out of stock, as is the website. I’m pretty sure anyone predicting a close release date is going to be correct.

I really doubt that Apple will make a whole new iPhone when they can just pull a Zune (Yeah I know, creppy) and just sell the iPhone 1.0 as the $200 dollar model if they are even gonna do that. What seems more reasonable is that AT&T will just knock $200 off the 3G one with 2yr Contract to make sure that people dont buy one, unlock, and switch to T-Mobile or something. Apple will still sell theirs at $400. I believe that rumor more.

What I don’t understand is how AT&T requires you to sign a two year contract when activating the current iphone. The current iphone is not subsidized.

One could debate this considerably considering the directive to hire “Product Pros” like we had last year was just sent down. They’re not scheduled to begin working in att stores until between June 20-23 so I am going to go ahead and stick with June 27 as it is the last friday of the month.

Why would they have them work a week before the “release”? These “product pros” showed up the day of the last release. From what I here their assignment begins from June 16-23. Just a thought but they are just there to show the phone a little, so they are not crucial for the launch of the product. The company also knowing about how information magically gets out it could have set it up where they show up to work the Monday after the release. Just a thought.
