Sprint responds to rumors about 5GB “unlimited” data cap
Following last week’s news that Sprint would be joining the ranks of AT&T and Verizon in implementing a 5GB cap on some of their advertised “Unlimited” data offerings, the company has issued a response in an attempt to clarify their stance. First off, the new cap only applies to data cards and tethering, which means that anyone with a handset-specific unlimited data plan, including Simply Unlimited subscribers, will not be affected. Business accounts will be similarly unaffected. Furthermore, a single month of overage will not freeze a user’s account. Sprint will be using a three month rolling gauge, with a given user having to exceed 5GB in 2 out of the 3 months to register an infringement. First warnings will be issued as a formal reprimand, with further action taken on a case-by-case basis. Sprint also plans to offer data usage monitoring on Sprint.com beginning June 8th. We’re glad the company has taken the time to clarify their new stance, as misconceptions are often born out certain corporations unwillingness to communicate. That said, we still wish they would simply change the marketing material to something other then “Unlimited” to reflect their new policies.

I just got a formal reprimand – it was how I found out my unlimited plan was no longer unlimited. When I called I was informed that my service would be cut off if it went over again.
I too am a OTR driver , I am on the road anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks at a time. I got a phone call from these scumbags the other
day and when they told me about this cap I called that asshole everything in the book, they think we are all stupid ,(Unfortunitly enough out here are )for them to get away with this . There is NO EARTHLY reason why they can not beef up the network to handle unlimited use like we signed up for . The technology is there. if you cant figure it out , ITS ABOUT MORE MONEY FOR THEM AND LESS SERVICE FOR US .Thats all it is . Notice that your plane price did not go down. 5gigs is plenty for those who only use email and thats it , for most of use and especially OTR truckers 5gigs is nothing . I research online and study online. My wife and daughter are not here in the USA and I talk to her everyday with yahoo IM and my web cam , web cam use is pretty much the same as watching streaming feeds and it eats up data so, now I have can only vid chat with my wife for very very short periods of time and only a few times a week . But, just like everything else here in this country , know one will do anything together we could put all of these companies out of business if enough people let Sprint,ATT and Tmobile know they are going to loose just about all of their customers , But this is a waste of breath because none of you would do it , THERE;S POWER IN NUMBERS .Corporate America is killing us all .OOHHH I CANT WAIT TO MOVE OUT OF THIS SHIT BOWEL COUNTRY .
Guess you should of put the account under a business name. Business accounts are/were not affected. I have used sprint for over two years now, customer service did kind of suck at the beginning, but they have improved 100%. Call in with a legitimate complaint or problem, they do what ever needs to be done to solve or satisfy the problem. I see people on the internet forums, websites saying do this and that and you might get what you want. Just like any other business there are rules and policies they enforce to make the system work for everybody.
This sucks, when they changed or eliminated plans in the past you could keep yours. This has nothing to due with service and SIMPLY EVERYTHING to do with MORE of OUR MONEY in their pockets. this is the end of my relationship with SPRINT formerly NEXTEL which has gone downhill since they merged!
