Nokia E71 video walkthrough: questions?

We’re going to start doing a full video walkthrough of the Nokia E71 and it should be up sometime tomorrow. Before doing so, we wanted to ask you guys if there is anything in particular you would like us to go over. (We’re looking at you, E61 owners.) Obviously we’ll go over the phone in its entirety, but if there are any specific questions and things you’d like us to check out, let us know. Drop a comment with what you’re looking for and we’ll do our best to get it in!

    The pictures of the keyboard show that there are two keys with national (Spanish) characters. Could we expect a Danish version of E71 to have two Danish national characters instead (actually we need three)?

    I’d be interested in seeing if the calendar makes better use of the screen than on the E61i (probably not, but I haven’t given up hope yet…)

    I think most things are already asked for.

    But what about motion sensor? I think as it is an E-Series device that there isn’t one in it.

    But maybe you can try if there is one with some of this small test programs which shows its data.

    Hi,

    I’d really like to see:
    - Speed of the OS.
    - How long it takes to open up messages.
    - Web browsing.
    - Google maps.
    - Media features in general

    Thanks!

    I’d like to know about keyboard usability but I suppose you’ll cover that anyway.

    If you set up an IMAP account and send mail, will it file the outgoing message into a proper IMAP ’sent mail’ folder? Longstanding E61 email bug. I’ve had to use my clever SMTP server to automatically save a copy on the server-side.

    Launch dates would be great too!

    Oh yeah, two more things:

    * Screen readability in sunlight
    * USB Charging - yes/no!

    Cheers!

    I have a couple of specific questions with regard to multimedia capabilities, which may or may not be of interest to other readers:

    - do the video and audio players support a bookmark feature (e.g. bookmark the place where you stopped watching a movie or listening to an audio program)
    - do the video and audio player support jumping to a specific point in time in the file (e.g. remember the place where you stopped watching a movie or listening to an audio program - e.g. 00:22:25, and then jump right to it)
    - can you restrict the folders which the Music Player indexes for the Music Library? I use my phone a lot to listen to audio books and other audio programs, which get indexed too and mess up my music library.
    - can you compare the quality of the sound iPhone, BB, some N-series phone and E71 when using decent quality headphones (it probably has 2.5′ jack but maybe you can use an adapter and still use the same set of headphones on all phones)? The bottom line being whether E71 a viable option as an MP3 player?

    thanks

    Can you please tell us if you can dial contacts straight form a home screen like in curve or 8800. It was a major turn off for me and the reason I didn’t like E61.

    Does the use of the headphone jack disable the ability to answer calls with bluetooth? I hate it when I am listening to podcasts in the car via the headphone jack and I can not answer a call with a bluetooth headset. Thanks BG!

    Boy Genuis:

    I am so sick and tired of phone reviews reviewing everything about the phone except how the device works as a phone!!! Of course camera, wifi, multi media capabilities have there place, but the main reason why I buy a mobile phone is for how it performs as a phone. All of the reviews tend to address this as a secondary matter, and instead want to spend time addressing the whistles and bells of the gadgets.

    I am a former Nokia E1 owner.The phone overall was great, except that it failed as a business phone in two basic, but major respects. You just could not hear on the damn thing!!!

    The headset speaker for the E61 was so low and the the phone was designed with a sweet spot to where if you did not position the speaker exactly over the ear, you could not hear. You had to constantly keep moving the phone around to find the correct sweet spot to hear on the thing. This was due to the complete flatness of the front of the phone. It made it hard to know when the speaker was directly over the ear. I hope this has been corrected in terms of how the front of the phone is shaped, along with making the speaker louder. Could you please address this a little more.

    Also, Blackberry Curve speakerphone blows the nokia speakerphones away, which is really importANT for business users. Nokia is famous for placing clear sounding, but low volume speakerphones in their phones. This was explained to me that Nokia is complying with laws oversees regulating the volume of mobile phones to protect against ear damage. How is the speakerphone on the E71, is it as loud and powerful as the BB curve and hopefully the Bold

    Lastly, the keys on the Bold are black with white lettering. Is it easy to see the lettering or do youneed young eyes to make out the keyboard. Some older phone users such as myself have difficulty making out the keys on the BB curve.

    I know my questions are simplistic, but I believe they go to the basic useability and functuality of the E71 as a phone first and not simply as some newly announced gadget.

    1. I wonder how well is the phone assembled, is it assembled like its predecessor E61i or worse? Especially my worries concern the back of the phone as from the images it is not clear how the back cover is tightened (in E61i the back cover is well fit in the place and overall phone is very solid).
    2. I wonder what would be the speed of E71, does is still be equipped with ARM 9 220 MHz processor?
