Nokia E71 video walkthrough: questions?

We’re going to start doing a full video walkthrough of the Nokia E71 and it should be up sometime tomorrow. Before doing so, we wanted to ask you guys if there is anything in particular you would like us to go over. (We’re looking at you, E61 owners.) Obviously we’ll go over the phone in its entirety, but if there are any specific questions and things you’d like us to check out, let us know. Drop a comment with what you’re looking for and we’ll do our best to get it in!
Ditto on the E51 cpu comparison. It sounds like the E51 is faster.

A Bold and iphone comparison would be great.
Web browser review comparing the Bold and iphone browsers.
As said above it comes down to these three devices.
I’m holding out for one of the three.

1. Sync up your whole address book (tell us how many entries you have), then from the home page, how long does it take to press the address book key, load the address book, accept your key input and bring up the contact? On my E61i with 800+ contacts, it’s maddeningly slow.
2. Set up an email account with the native client under IMAP, and see if IDLE mode and =sending via IMAP work straight away.

How responsive is the phone?
I have an E62 and from the main screen to go to the menu it takes me 2 - 4 secs. Contacts takes some 3 seconds and Messaging takes about 5 secs. (I LOVE S60 devices, but wish they would be faster)
Video Quality?
I use the DivX player to watch videos @ barely 12fps. (It looks pixel-ish) Hopefully, the E71 is better.
Camera startup?
How many seconds does it take for the camera to start up? The N95 supposedly takes 2 secs.
Taking pictures?
A friend of mine has a N72 and after clicking the button, the phone takes 4 seconds to record the picture!!
Wifi battery life?
How long will the phone last if the Wifi is on full-time? Can you also check the battery life with bluetooth on as well?
S60 3rd edition?
Is it Symbian 60 3rd edition phone? I want to know if I can run my 3rd party applications directly on it.
Gaming?
I sometimes lend my phone to my younger brother and he complains that the response of the games is just too slow. For that matter, is there any 3D chip or video decoder hardware in the phone?
Resolution?
The E62 is 320×240 pixels. How is the E71? And like someone mentioned before, can you view the screen comfortably in sunlight?
Release & Price?
When will the phone be out and at what price?

- battery life?
- does it take videos? if so, how long can the clips be?
- fm radio?
- how many media types does it play/stream out of the box/without adding software?
- alarms and timers availability?
- bluetooth range compared to iphone, bold, blackjack and tilt?

- does it feel better against your face after you’ve removed it from your shirt pocket or your trouser pocket?

I would also be very interested in seeing the web interface and a live browsing demo including some sites that shin eon an iphone such as facebook, google reader etc. Just curious how the browser deals with that in comparison.
Also, I would like a demo of the music player and camera interface, basically to see how the multimedia capabilities are on the newest business device of the E-series.

Sums it up very well. A comparison, especially from the form factor would be really nice. These 3 phones will be the ones to get in the next months. Now a side by side comparison of these 3 would be perfect.

First let me thank you guys for actually doing a video review. Sappy shiit aside i would like to see
1. Speed of the OS
2. Video Quality- Sling Box compatibility
3. Battery Time on Phone Time, Wifi
4. VoIP capabilities (Skype)

Lots of size comparisons are nice.
That usually gets left out or done wrong.
A comparison with an N95-1 would be greatly appreciated.

- Could you please put it side by side with the E61i and run some things in paralel on both screens (skype, google/nokia maps, movies) just for a real comparison between the 2 displays (for me its a bummer the fact that the screen size is almost 2.4 which is a downfall from the E61i’s 2.8)(could you also confirm the screen size pls).
- Could you tell us if the voice recording time is still 1 min max or did they change that?
- A wireless testing would be great.

Hey, I still have an E61 cause Nokia hasn’t released this thing and want to see the following things:
1 I noticed that it doesn’t have the Shift button in the bottom-right only on the left side of the keyboard so my question is this… can it somehow still highlight a word all at once (instead letter by letter)? On my E61 I do it by pressing Ctrl + Shift + and left/right/down/up with the joystick. I hope they didn’t throw this feature out!!!
2 It’s not FP2, right? But is it just regular FP1 cause it doesn’t really look like it.
3 Go through all the calendar features. Please.
4 And finally, show me how quickly it can take a picture and how good/bad the pic looks like.

Two things:
1) What bluetooth profiles does it support? Is BT gimped in any way? OBEX object push & File Transfer?
2) The e71 is reported to have about half the processor speed and exactly half the screen resolution compared to the BB Bold / iPhone. (I assume the sacrifice is to save battery life / cut the cost) Does the web surfing / media experience suffer as a result? What am I giving up?

Hi
Can you try to play Skyforce Reloaded on E71.
It may seem a strange request but this game is the ultimate test regarding the keyboard. If you don’t press two buttons in this game, than this phone is a killer mobile. This game couldn’t be played with E61i but runs perfectly on E51 keyboard.

I’m actually using TOMTOM Navigation (on a HP PDA though). I would be interested to know all about the sensivity of the build-in GPS chip, how fast does it work etc. I do appreciate your work and thank you in advance for your information

1. Since it does not have a stylus, the copy/paste features when writing emails must be easy to use (it is not easy on the E61i - and sometimes it is not even possible to copy/paste). Can you check if this has improved.
2. When writing emails on the phone, it is veery annoying to find when sending it that you wrongly started to write/edit the message as a txt-message in stead of email. Please check the possibility to change a message from being a txt-messags (sms) to being an email.
3. How accurate and quick is the GPS? The N95 did not impress much.

1. processing speed. Does it sucks like E61 & 62?
2. Any major updates in the UI
3. Keyboard typing accuracy. Does the small size of the kb really matters?
