Ahh Wednesdays. Is the first half of the week over or is the second half of the week beginning? Optimist or pessimist, here at BGR we’re doing our part to make today as painless as possible. How about we start out with an exclusive dose of some live shots of the Palm Treo 850! Truth be told, this puppy is pretty smooth looking! Details are still coming in but we can tell you it’s sporting a 400 MHz processor and 100 MB of RAM. Hit the jump for a nice comparison pic with the BlackBerry 8800.

a friend switched to the centro and said the keyboard is harder to use, MORE MISTAKES. THATS JUST WHAT I WANT FOR MY BUSINESS!!! TO BUY A “NEW” TREO THATS HARDER TO USE THEN THE LAST MODEL!!!
this would of been EXPECTED if it came out a couple years ago.

I have recently owned both a Treo and a Blackberry Curve. In my honest opinion, the blackberry is more user friendly, but with a big price tag.
Using the service of RiM is at least $30 more a month, and their server is questionable at best.
Blackberry does have a better “style” to it, but it is like paying more for a logo on the side of a sneaker shoe. Do you want function or form. I think the new Treo design is definitly a step in a slimmer, more stylish look, glad to see them moving to something a bit smaller.

space occupied by buttons above the QWERTY keyboard is a waste!
the screen looks too small. I am loyal user of Treo750 for more than 3years now but PALM should re-consider bigger screen size — iPhone v2.0 is coming shortly.

I own a Centro, and the KEYBOARD IS AMAZING. It’s very easy to type on, since this is a slightly larger phone I’m sure it will be just as if not even easier. I think it’s nice looking, but no it’s not ground breaking. But until you actually hold and use a Palm, don’t put it down, RIM’s designs may be less toy-like but how do they feel in the hand.
I have a Centro and I would definitely consider getting a Treo in the future. I’m more interested in the next Palm OS codenamed Nova then Windows Mobile.

What’s really missing on this thing is enough memory! 100K just doesn’t do it in 2008.
The Palm TX (3 or 4 year old technology) has 256k, and the new Blackberry Bold has ONE GIG!
One of Palm’s advantages is all of the programs that can run on it! Memory today is dirt cheap. (Gig flash cards sell for under $10.)
Give us more memory!!!

Does anybody have any info if and when Vodafone UK will be offering this?
My 750v is on its last legs, I am due a new handset and want MS Mobile 6. The other HTC offerings are horrid.
Will it becoming anytime soon? It isn’t shown as coming soon on their website.

Hello… can anyone comment on if this new Palm will have “chat-style view” like my 755p does? I know most of the Windows mobile devices that I’ve seen does not…I love the chat style view, so if this new windows version doesn’t have it, I wont bite. Does anyone know if Windows 6.1 has chat-style view?

I have a treo 680… I have loved it but finding it a little out dated for my realestate business. I am considering moving up to a blackberry, but what about the latest palm. Will that do the same thing as blackberry. What would be the advantages and disadvantages. Would one of you “techies” out there please let me know before I make this critical decision and a new purchase?????????? Thank you, thank you!!!!!

yes i have to agree that palm gives little or no reason to continue in the smartphone business, i will bet a buck they will be out of the business with the next two years , palm is on the last vestiges of its existence, iphone , htc and nokia will rule the smartphone universe

How come no one mentions push email….isn’t about for some real improvements. and for God’s sake,,, the design has not improved…it’s a shame palm can not make a good one…i think I’m changing to att with the new I-Phone.

I think Treo series are in serious danger of tough competitor. They are really good qwerty keyboards smart phones out there. And I feel black berry bold 9000 or the Nokia E71 will give Treo 850 a serious run for the money.
I used a treo 650 before and am using the E71 now. I feel the e71 buttons is real pleasure to use.
