“Official” Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM for Sprint Mogul leaked
Yeah, we know. There have been a long string of seemingly official Sprint Mogul ROM leaks. Given the history, you shouldn’t get your hopes up too high, but it’s still a good step to see this in the wild. A new version of the Sprint Mogul Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM has leaked within the DEV community. The new firmware, ROM version 3.49 and radio version 3.39.10, is being billed as an "almost official but still beta" release. Among the many updates include HTC’s new large Start Menu, Sprint TV (finally), subjectively faster response time, and a bit more, all running atop Windows Mobile 6.1. We’re hearing June 1st as a possible drop date, but we’ll believe it when we see it.

Since when is Sprint relevant to anything but miserable failure? Only the techno-vultures are able to glean anything of worth from their rigor mortis.

Sweet. I think I’ll wait for the official drop before I update.

I think it has been said somewhere that MMS and smartphones won’t be coupled in the near future, what’s up with the update for the Touch though

Why is this remarkable to note, this is an upgrade from Mobile 6 to Mobile 6.1 a whole .1 upgrade. It was in beta behind the scenes all over the CTIA in San Francisco IN OCTOBER of 2006. HOW THE HECK DOES IT TAKE MICROSOFT, THE CARRIERS AND MANUFS all this time to get “near final beta” ROMS out for a whole .1 update. The whole process of beta testing and approving these things is just way to slow and messed up with. I have had a near final beta 6.1 on my Samsung Blackjack 1 since about March 5th, 2008 over 10 weeks ago. Yes its beta, yes it was cooked. All I am saying is the “Official” WM 6.1 should have been announced at CES 2008 and out for all carriers and compatible phones on or before the CTIA at the end of March 2008. Yeah, I know its complicated beta testing upgrades and making sure the phones don’t mess up the carriers network and all, and I still say they all need to get their act together for a .1 upgrade!

Well obviously I meant CTIA in San Francisco in October of 2007, sorry. They even showed it during the Microsoft Keynote Presentation where CEO Mr. B showed in on a Blackjack II and said they had been working with WM6.1 Betas closely with Samsung and AT&T for some time to get their new upcoming Enterprize software ready.

It’s only ‘remarkable’ to all the Sprintrolls. The rest of us get how passe this is.

“what’s up with the update for the Touch though”
A beta for the Sprint Touch (HTC Vogue) was leaked and posted at PPCGeeks, complete with WM6.1 and GPS. Rev.A functionality is said to be there; I don’t seem to get the speeds that I should for it, but I may not be in a Rev.A area. Others have suggested that Rev.A may simply not be enabled for the Touch at this point. It’s still a little quirky, but not too bad overall.
