deafvideo.tv looks like a crowdsourced ASL translation service, not a solution, and a great way of duplicating every video clip ever made for every language… if such a thing were even possible.

I’m with Champs. Whether the producer is hearing or deaf…or whether the video is targeted to the deaf or hearing community. It ought to have captions and it ought to be easy to add. I want to see every video player to have something like QuickTime has where you can fast forward the video and still get the message through American Sign Language (ASL) or captions. The idea of having chapters is pretty cool, again, it has to be pretty easy to create chapters.

sounds like this seesmic thing is not gonna work too well, from what i’ve seen it’s just creepy people on a dark/blurry cam, i’m surprised they were able to get that much money from investors but that’s probably cause their CEO Loic Lemeur knows a lot of people in the Silicon Valley.
They should have a rapper battle system on sites like hiphopgame.com, that would be a good idea but as far as comments, I prefer a message board or a simple comment system, I don’t need to show my face everytime I wanna say something

I’m already irritated by the amount of producer-generated video.

* My phone can’t play it.

* There’s no way to “skim” through video.

* Not every narrator has a good “radio voice.”

* Not every narrator is particularly good at the language they’re speaking in.

* Not every listener is fluent in the language spoken.

* The deaf community… need I say more?

Video needs some help.

The start of a solution would be to put captions on everything. Then videos could have chapters, and somewhere down the line, players could add features like time scaling and FF/Rewind that doesn’t suck.
