US HTC Touch Dual shows up on Best Buy site

Well, well, well. Fresh off the recent FCC filing, the American version of the HTC Touch Dual has shown up on the Best Buy website. Currently available for pre-order from bestbuy.com, the handset sports support for 850/900/1800/1900MHz bands, giving us full quad-band support and making it a useful acquisition for current AT&T subscribers wishing to use 3G here. The price is listed as a back-breaking $549.99, which is a bit steep, especially considering the impending arrival of HTC’s next-gen Touch interface, but if you absolutely must have the latest HTC handset to hit American soil, this one is a keeper.

Thanks, Ron!

The reason Best Buy has that on the site is because Best Buy is supposed to be getting it first. I think we will be seeing many more devices in Best Buy because of the new Best Buy Mobile coming in a month or so. At least that’s what i’ve been told.

“HTC Touch Dual Availability and Features
Best Buy will be the first to offer the HTC Touch Dual, which will be available through select Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile retail outlets, online at BestBuy.com and htc.com.

“At Best Buy we are committed to providing customers with a wide selection of high quality handsets,” said David Ryan, director of merchandising, Best Buy Mobile. “We look forward to adding the innovative HTC Touch Dual to our current lineup of unlocked phones.”

I cant wait to play with one of these to see what it is like. These devices should be rolling in stores with-in the next 3-4 weeks more than likely for the new launch of the Mobile stores.

But the real question that I’m concerned with is which keypad is best buy getting. Becasue in one picture Besy Buy shows the Touch Dual with t9 keypad…and then in another picture it shows the Touch Dual with the xt9 (Suretype keypad)

…so which one is it best buy becasue I’m not placing my order until I find out which one i’m getting…

There is no mention of US 3g support on the website for this device. So how can this assumption be made?

I can say, without any uncertainty, that the touch dual should be able to be retrofitted with the new touch 3D interface given the active HTC hacking community just as XDA dev has made touchflo and biocube available on non-Touch devices. I would hope a BGR contributor would realize this.
