BlackBerry Thunder, the touchscreen BlackBerry we’ve all been waiting for
Since we were the first ones to break the news about a touchscreen BlackBerry device, it’s only fitting that we follow up and give y’all the real lowdown on it! This is going to excite a lot of people, but anger many. Are you ready? The BlackBerry Thunder, as it is codenamed now, (all you "reporting" on it as the Storm are incorrect) will launch in Q3 of this year. It is a full touchscreen BlackBerry — no slide out keyboard — with only 4 physical keys. Those are the send / end phone keys, the BlackBerry menu key, and the back key. Here is the most interesting part, though: it will launch as a worldwide lifetime exclusive on Verizon and Vodafone! We’ve heard the unit will be a hybrid device with CDMA EV-DO Rev. C (for clarification, Rev C., known as UMB is practically dead. If the device will indeed launch with a 4G solution, our bet is on LTE), and GSM HSPA for traveling internationally. Verizon and Vodafone will have the same unit. Currently, the model number is the BlackBerry 9500, though it’s very early and that’s likely to change. This is HUGE for the Verizon lovers. For once they’ll get an exclusive device, but Verizon will have a sales quota for the device and if they don’t meet those numbers, we’ve heard the exclusivity will then dissolve and it’s over. This will be extremely interesting to see play out.

P.P.S. For futher clarification about the whole LTE thing, the chip might support it, but that does not mean the network will be ready by any means…OK?
Not really, there both the same price($300 for a 16gb 3g speed iphone and BlackBerry Storm.)but you get a little more for $70 a month than for the iphone.And for just $5, you can go worldwide all over the world with your companies 3g network.But the Blackberry Storm is going to be better than the instinct from sprint and the diamond. Even the LG Dare is better than the instinct. So it’s not a failer, but the price might drop to $275 or $250 if it doesnt do go within 3-5 months.

Storm launches 11/21 for 199 after 50 MIR with a new two year agreement. Comes with 8G preinstalled and 1G internal mem for total of 9G.

Honestly…Blackberry’s best bet would have been to make a contract exclusive with Sprint. I am a T-Mobile user and fan..but we just announced the Google G1…which would be death for T-Mobile to sign a Blackberry on top of that…seeing that one phone would fail. Apple is still selling iphones by the bucket…and adding another touchscreen (blackberry) would not be good for their sales…the only big company left is verizon wireless…who just bought alltel…so who knows…maybe they have something up their sleeves???

OK. So it’s kind of sad that people get this excited over a phone. Who cares if it’s an exclusive contract. Overall cell phone companies are in it just to make money. This whole trash talk about cell companies is so dumb. It is a cell phone! Yea it is amazing to have all they coolest features on a “cell phone”. But everyone just takes what we have for granted and just wants more more and more. Uhhhhggg.. so lame…

This phone is by far the best tool ive seen this year. I’ve owned many bb’s in the past and loved them. I currently own an iphone and its a great toy but after checking out the storm tonight i am thoroughly impressed. bb has been trying so hard to make a toy lately that they’ve been turning out crap such as the pearl and curve but this storm is impressive better than my iphone any day. Not to mention that it has all the benifits that good ole money whore steve jobs wont allow. Soon to have adobe flash it’s got cut, copy and paste, word, excel,mms, better screen, louder more crisp audio and by far the fastest operating transitions i’ve seen. Check it out you will be impressed!!!

Apparently, Verizon is pioneering a program to make ALL phones from ANY company compatible with Verizon. After all, Verizon is a service provider, not a phone manufacturer. This is genius!
