BlackBerry Bold is the BlackBerry 9000?

We’ve got some intel that we’ve been sitting on that suggests the final name of the BlackBerry 9000 will turn out to be the BlackBerry Bold. This isn’t confirmed, and the domain, which was purchased from a shady-looking comnpany in Canada, currently has text link ads on it. Not a good sign. Let’s see if this pans out. Anyone feeling the name if it turns out to be real?

Uh, no. My CND $0.02 … “Bold” just sounds too contrived, not to mention boring. “Bold” is in the design and the OS. Leave it there. I’m hoping this is just a rumour without standing. RIM needs a better marketing department (or agency, if they outsource) if all that the marketing people come up with is “Bold” … I mean, name notwithstanding, I’ll still buy it but I’ll refer to it as the “9000″ over “Bold” any day …

‘Bold’ doesn’t do anything for me.

Unlike some above, I think it DOES need a name. Consumer devices from RIM seem to have names, business devices don’t (I don’t consider “World Edition” a name though some folks seem to). 9000 is obviously a consumer oriented device for ATT and TMO here stateside.

81xx Pearl and 83xx Curve, versus 87xx and 88xx without names.

I’d call it the Blackberry Eclipse. It’s dark, the red tinges feed into it. It’s curvy like a mother. The chrome gives it an eclipse like look.

I doubt AT&T will go for it given that they’re colloquially known as the Death Star.

    I also thought of

    Blackberry Pebl
    Blackberry Razr
    Blackberry iPhoneknockoff
    Blackberry BlackPearl

But they all seemed like fud.
