BlackBerry 8330 Coming to Verizon on Friday

It’s ok, you can say it… Finally! Verizon Wireless customers won’t have to wait much longer for the BlackBerry Curve 8330 that we’ve known to be coming to the nation’s largest CDMA carrier for quite some time. Of course this news is a bit overshadowed by all of the BlackBerry juice we’ve been feeding you lately, but it will still come as good news to those of you waiting for a solid upgrade on VZW. According to several reports and a bunch of emailed tips we’ve received (thanks guys), here’s how it’ll go down:
- Friday, May 9th: 8330 available through B2B, telephone sales and on the web
- Monday, May 12th: 8330 available through all other channels
The price point will reportedly be at $270 after a $50 rebate with a 2-year contract and $440 without a contract. Not bad at all; you VZW people excited or still irked that it’s taken this long? We also have heard of people getting orders through already. Anyone’s Curve shipped yet?

I believe you meant 8330 not 8830 that you have in your article.

Any info on what features they have stripped out?

I can’t wait for VZW to tell me that all of the discount coupons that they’ve been mailing me to re-sign a new contract don’t apply to this “new” device. I’m ready for this upgrade but already looking forward to the BB 9000 series hitting VZW in 1-2 years…after thorough testing and stripping away of features.

Um 8830 has been out for a while. A little proofreading always helps.

Is the OS an upgrade from the Verizon WE 8830?
Thanks in advance for the reply

The only thing “stripped out” is that the GPS is locked to VZ Navigator. Everything else seems to be working the same as my buddies curves for AT&T and T-Mobile

Just ordered mine this morning. Call customer service and tell them you want to order via sku # - “bb8330c” … not sure at first, but she found it.
Got $100 NE2 credit, $100 advanced device credit and $50 MIR. With tax and priority overnight shipping I will pay $78.39….
One note - I was told that I had to go with the $44 data plan as the cheaper one isn’t supported by this device b/c of some firmware issue. I’m not sure what she was talking about but I agreed and then I will lower to $29 plan in a month or so.

I’m sure she was right. Typical Verizon. Why anyone puts up with their shenanigans is beyond me.

I grabbed a screen cap this weekend of Verizon’s site showing a $219 online price and an additional $50 rebate for a net of $169 after all rebates and with new 2 yr contract.
This has been online for a short time over the weekend until Verizon pulled it down.

Bunk. Once you’ve confirmed your unit is actually SHIPPED, I’d call customer service and tell them to change it back. Unless you need Blackberry Enterprise Services access, the $29 plan is all you need.

Man, I am really torn between staying with Verizon for this or jumping to AT&T for the iPhone 2 or BB 9000 (although I do refer the Curve over what I’ve heard of the 9000).

Ordered mine on Saturday from vzw.com and just received shipment confirmation and tracking info! Scheduled for delivery for tomorrow the 6th. Now, just have to find someway to be home to receive it! FedEx drives me crazy. UPS always leaves packages for me, heck they even take them around to my back door! FedEx will require me to drive half way around town to their hub after work.

Too little, too late. I already moved our entire workforce to AT&T. Verizon needs to get these things out to market much quicker. We are all awaiting the new version of the iPhone and the Blackberry 9000!! LOL!! Verizon (although there service is stellar) is a joke.
AT&T’s service is at times very frustrating, but the overall experience is better: newer phones and a service that works 96% of the time.

I have confirmation for 3 Curves that are being shipped overnight to arrive tomorrow. On government plan we got them for $204.99, minus $100 discount and another $50 mail-in rebate.
When the phones arrive (9 total - Pearls and LGs), I am switching our government account over to Verizon. So long AT&T - we are through with the No Bars in More Places.

ATT has this phone for $99. and it’s global quad band.
ATT will have the next gen only a couple months after VZ gets 8300 series. that’s funny.
looks like blackberry knows where their bread is buttered.

well I ordered one when it was on verizons website Sunday, before it was taken down.
ATT does not have this phone.. sure its a 8300 series, but its also on their slow 3g, has no camcorder, and no mms (i think).
Sprints version also has no mms.
so thats why I decided to go with verizons.
