BlackBerry KickStart: T-Mobile launch and a whole bunch of specs!

You didn’t think we’d actually leave you hangin’, did you? To follow up on on yesterday’s post of the BlackBerry KickStart photos, we’ve got here a couple more images of the phone with T-Mobile branding and some interesting details on the physical design attributes. It looks like the screen is monochromatic with a color glow. Whatever that means. We’re imagining the border around the screen to possibly "glow" different colors and when the outer display is off, it’s invisible. You just see the shiny black face. There’s a whole bunch of colors set to launch with the KickStart and they’ll be anodized. Additionally, the back battery cover will either be a soft-touch rubberized finish, or a low gloss finish. We’d imagine some sort of customization opportunities for the end user with the low gloss finish. Perhaps you could get the battery cover with personalized images and things. Sounds fun. Ready for the hard specaroonies? Who are we kidding — you know you are!

  • Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
  • "Next Gen" SureType keyboard
  • 2 Megapixel camera
  • 16-bit color LCDs
  • Internal LCD is 240×320, external one is 160×128
  • Wi-Fi b,g
  • 3.5mm headset jack
  • OS is 4.6

We’re not going to flat out call it, but look for a release around September on T-Mobile! Hit the jump for the rest of the shots!

Christopher: I believe you have the wrong idea about UMTS, UMTS is the base technology of GSM 3g, such as hsdpa and hsupa. I have recieved confirmation from engineers in my city that 3g will be hsdpa for Tmo.

T-Mobile and Rim should give the KICKSTART an earlier launch date, sure I know TMOB takes a little longer to release new products, but if I were them I would hurry because alot of people out their are going to be carrying those stimulus government checks around. Think about it Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint are releasing new exciting products (Glyde,LG VU,Instinct) right around the time alot of people are going to have extra cash. Don’t be lost in the mix T-Mobile!

T-Mo is launching the most advanced 3G network, you idiot. HSUPA leapfrogs AT&T’s HSDPA technology.

BGR, why do you always have to be hating on Sprint. Sprint is really cool and starts with an S and… And the have a cool yellow color.
    Don’t be a hater BGR

TMobile’s HSUPA is just a gain in UPLOAD speeds. It doesn’t effect the HSDPA download speeds. HSUPA is something AT&T is already working on, and Rogers Wireless (huge roaming partner) also has here in Canada. T-Mobile’s largest gain over AT&T is the bandwidth of the network will be able to sustain more users using data @ higher speed threshold.

Like this flipphone. No chance of SE making the hardware. If its Tri-band HSDPA then anybody with a GSM network (quadband GSM is there) can unlock, modify the alx file and use no problemo no T-Mobile branding on firmware :D

To Note: SD slot is next to the + - buttons on the black version.

I have a Sprint BB Pearl, my 1st BB. My coverage in Louisiana always outweighs the others.

I like flip phone styles because the screen is better protected, less smeary, and the keys don’t always have to be on stand-by or locked.

I bought the Pearl because none of Sprint’s flip phones had the features I wanted (ie. video cam / 2.0 MP camera with flash, 3.5mm headphone jack, speakers, Sprint TV, Bluetooth stereo, Sprint GPS navigation, internet access, email access, clear voice reception…the list goes on).

    Cheers :)

Broadbased coverage statements about any carrier reveal a level of incompetence this site doesn’t deserve. Everyone has their own coverage favorites, based on personal experience. But T-Mobile is not the worst; not by any credible, independent measurement. BGR perpetuates the myth, which is too bad since otherwise site seems to slant toward being a fan of their service. All of it unfortunate, since T-Mobile actually a top coverage provider in many markets, along with Verizon.
