BlackBerry Kickstart, the clamshell flip phone? We’re unveiling it to you for the first time!

Are you ready, people? We’ve been holding this info for a while now trying to confirm it, but no more! We have here pictures of a new BlackBerry device. It is a BlackBerry clamshell — a flip phone and codenamed the Kickstart! Let me repeat this. This isn’t fake, this isn’t a hoax. We’ve known RIM is planning to launch a flip phone within the year, and we now have the pictures to prove it! As you can see, it uses a SureType keyboard, has an external LCD, and a pretty decent looking internal LCD. It also uses the TrackBall for navigation and does have a camera. We’re hearing a release date before the end of the year. What do y’all think of it? Hit the gallery for all the pictures of the brand new BlackBerry flip phone!

This is the first RIM device I have ever wanted. I just might have to leave winmo and garnet for something more suited to the blackberry UI. I just pray HTC is readying a competitor.

I would love to know the size, as well. It doesn’t look too big in width or length, but it does look a bit thick. Specs please!!!

The only reason people love blackberries are for their keyboards and looks!
this has neither! the keyboard is flush and the looks… it’s bulky and ugly and honey it better lemme tell ya. it better come with three wishes if it looks like that!

I still don’t get it! It’s bigger than the pearl! It’s freakin colossal!

Meh. It’s OK, I guess. I hate SureType, so I’m not loving it.

But I applaud RIM for continuing to variegate their product line.

Personally, I’m thrilled to see another device with SureType. I’ve gotten very used to it on my Pearl, and I’m not looking forward to having to use a regular QWERTY if/when I buy the 9000…
