After so many rumors finally we have RIM released spec sheet for BlackBerry 9000. BlackBerry 9000 new pics has also released by e-bay and device seems bit different the then user expectations. BlackBerry fans were expecting that BB 9000 will come with the touch screen concept.

wats with the safari icon on the home screen

one looks like a maps program but the other one looks exactly like safari in OSX

there are three icons on this page

one is like a compase rose

another is like globe with a ring

and the last one looks like safari

Do you really have a choice? I don’t see CDMA mentioned in the specs. That’s okay though. You’ll have 18 months to think about it before you have to worry about seeing it in VZW’s line up.

One of the spec sheets talks of BB Maps enhancements. Doesn’t this presume GPS?

The preliminary specs on Phone News (courtesy of BGR?) indicate GPS is supported.

Any chance they will call this the BB HAL?

I tried an N95 for couple of days but went back to the Curve because I still have hope in RIM to come out with something very spectacular and I can’t go back to the three-letters-per-key keyboard after using the Blackberry keyboard.

I hope RIM keeps all the features mentioned here on every model of the phone to compete with the iPhone 2.0; also taking in consideration the release of their next Blackberry because I have considered buying the iPhone 2 when it comes out – I can’t wait much longer to have a new phone.

I noted in the theme preview the phrase “Blackberry Precision”. Is this the name for the 9000 series devices or just the name of the new OS or theme layout? Kind of a neat name if it is what they will call the device.

This is why I keep my faith so solidly for RIM and why I will forever remain a BlackBerry user. This looks very impressive and I want to hold on in my hand. To be honest, this is just enough reason to get me off of T-Mobile and onto AT&T. (I wouldn’t mind being financially raped by AT&T every month just to hold one of these beauties!)

I love the new themes and the new icons. However, I still have issues with how big the “banner” area is compared to the rest of the screen, though. I’m one of those “minimalist” people — I like my banner being only one or two small lines at most, instead of 1/4 of the screen real estate.

And the Browser looks fantastic! I’m really excited about that. I wonder how fast it renders, though, regardless of what speed the network is operating at. If I remember correctly, there were some speed issues when using the (current) Browser over WiFi where the browser couldn’t render the page fast enough.

3G … Eh. I’ll probably have it off all the time to conserve battery power. I live in Texas, and most of our big cities are covered well enough by free WiFi.

Camera … Eh. I’ll have to check if I can have one in Iraq on base. (I hope they make a model without a camera for those of us in security-sensitive jobs.)

Perhaps it’s time to consider a 2010 short of RIMM’s stock. This might seem great to existing BlackBerry users, which I am a former, but I don’t think this is going to compete well with the iPhone over the long haul. And RIMM will also have to battle the Google Android. This all looks like mere window dressing on an interface which is quickly showing its age.

Seriously, I am not trying to troll or anything. I just think we are evolving, and typically what happens when we do evolve is that the older guy that sticks to his older, out-dated technology becomes extinct.

I don’t see this competing with the polish of the next generation of software we’re about to see on other platforms.
