GTA IV expected to pull in $400 million during first week

Think Rockstar Games has a lot riding on the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto IV? You would be correct. According to Variety, is looks like the Take-Two, Rockstar’s parent company, is expecting to rake in over $400 million during the first week of sales. Whoa! That would equate to roughly 6 million units sold over 7 days, which is a pretty insane number, especially given the state of the economy, but if anyone can pull this off it’s the Grand Theft Auto franchise. Given the new dual-platform release approach, coupled with the incredible hype surrounding the impending April 29th drop, epic sales are no brainer, but $400 million? We’ll just have to wait and see.

Says a lot about us if we’d forget about the economy to drive around town running people over – shooting everyone – and banging hookers. What a fanastic game!

Can’t wait ! I reserved my copy over 2 months ago at gamestop. I think the analyst looked over the number of presales and determined it to sell $400 during the 1st week, I can see this happening.

Only $400 million? Sounds too low. This is gonna blow Halo3 out the water.

Halo 3 was a single platform and that record will never be broken on a single platform again…unless there is ever a halo 4 of course. :)
