New iPhone to sport a case redesign?
Apple fanboys attack! We’re pretty hesitant to believe this one for ourselves, although it would make sense. There’s this image floating around that claims to be the back of the new 3G iPhone. Sportin’ a glossy black finish, it seems as if the entire back panel is now plastic instead of metal. This would bode well for the influx of antennas Apple is rumored to have added. 850MHz/1900MHz/2100MHz WCDMA, 802.11n, Bluetooth, etc. Sound off in the comments about what you think of the photo…real? Plausible? Absolutely without a doubt fake? Have at it!
Also check out the 8GB mark on the case, and also how the text is aligned differently than the existing iPhones.

Looks a little to glossy to be made by Apple. They do need to change the material on the back, and the chrome rim. They are the only 2 weak spots.

Possibly a very very good fake

could colorwarepc.com do this?

Yes and no. They could do the paint, but they paint over the iPhone name and text on the back, so this can’t be a Colorware job. Also, if you notice, there is no more plastic piece at the bottom, the whole back case appears to be one solid piece…

It could be real since the metal back of the original may interfere with the added antennas and 3G network.

Does it look like the Apple logo has a light to it? You know just like the macbook?
Now that’d be a nice touch!

plausible, i think the weakness of the current design is the scratches you get on the chrome bezel on the front.
Could be a design idea, tester model? But i dont think they would make that big of a change.

From zero to scratched in…well, now.

ps, plausible but it is an 8GB model right? I would have assumed the 3G model would start with 16GB.

Why does everyone think that when a picture of something gets leaked way too early, that the device is either a fake or a photoshopped job?
It could be real, and I think it is. It looks too different from the original iphone. Also look at the reflection in the glossy black cover.
Atleast people are daring enough to post pics, unlike how the last time the iphone was shown, off with serious fake pics.

Tell those people to take a picture of the front of the phone, with the screen on.

If the back is plastic I can’t wait until someone drops that baby on the ground. Ouch that’s gonna cost you.

I have the InCase Slider iPhone case which has a glossy finish similar to this. Looks great, but the back is scratched up pretty bad.

I could be wrong, but this looks like it could be the real deal aka iphone 2.

I’m sure the person who posted this will be dismissed shortly.

It’s the real deal and it’s nick named The Darkside. Totally slick! Better photo.

Two things I noticed:
Look at the angle of the camera. It will point up and left of your subject.
Look closely at where the speakers would be. It seems as this potentially 3g version has 2 large speaker holes on each side rather than the muffling small holes.

This would be A LOT of photoshop work considering you can see the reflection of the computer screen on the top side. Looks pretty legit to me and I love it! This phone with exchange support? Sign me up!

Just like the nano’s they are adding colour options as they add a new 3G ‘PRO’ model

*Love* the light-up logo idea! It could act as a flash for the camera as well.

I’m pretty sure the Apple logo isn’t lit, it’s same as the same chrome logo as the current phone, just reflecting the ceiling or something. You can see by the leaf that it’s actually a reflection

I doubt this is real. Anyone could create a fake plastic case and call it the new 3G iphone. This honestly doesn’t show us too much.

Also the way the gloss looks bumpy at the bottom seems like a bad paint job.. but who knows, maybe it’s a tester that’s been abused a bit.

forget what I said about the bumps in the gloss, it’s the reflection of the person taking the pic.
