Contrary to early reports, it looks like AT&T and not T-Mobile will be the first customer out the gate with a real, live version of the Microsoft Surface. AT&T will, in fact, be the first customer in the world to roll out the multi-touch equipped, 30-inch behemoth of a iPhone computer. The company will be installing these suckers in retail locations in San Francisco, New York, Atlanta, and San Antonio. Beginning April 17th, customers in those 4 select markets will be able to place specially prepared handsets onto the Surface’s screen, immediately receiving interactive product information and recommendations. We saw a T-Mobile-branded demo model at work during CES, and came away pretty impressed with the device’s capabilities, and we’re guessing this AT&T version will be about the same.
