BlackBerry Curve 8330 - Six Carriers with Fool’s Gold

As you may remember, almost one year ago, we broke news of the BlackBerry Curve 8330. Granted, some facts have since been corrected (not a World Edition device), but it’s been a rather long wait for CDMA customers wanting a BlackBerry Curve device. Recent news posted on BGR has shown pictures of the Sprint release, as well as a launch date for the Curve model.

Now, for your very own pleasure and enjoyment on the only site you love, we bring you pictures of the BlackBerry Curve 8330 from your favorite neighborhood CDMA carriers - Verizon, Sprint, Alltel, Telus, Bell Mobility, and US Cellular.

um, if it was an april fool’s why was it posted in march?

Besides it’s a PR photo, do they really have to expressly say “simulated screen” or can we all just figure that one out for ourselves?

I’m a long-time, contract-mandated VZW user. We have four office lines and we pay very little for service, which, incidentally, is pretty solid. I’m not at all satisfied at the choice (or the timeliness) VZW offers up new handsets/BB’s, but the thing is I’d rather have a solid, reliable, working device on a solid, reliable, working network than the newest gizmo that doesn’t work half the time. Friends with AT&T/TMO all have shiny, nice new phones, but they also have 10x the number of dropped calls and problems I do.

In the grand scheme of things, anyone who would switch carriers and accept lower-quality service/reception in exchange for better phones is missing the point, IMHO. For people who live in areas where AT&T, Sprint and/or TMo gives solid service, enjoy. For me (in NYC), I tried the 8800 the week it came out and seriously considered switching. Then I found myself in Times Square and couldn’t access the internet, get e-mail or make a call.

    No thanks.

    To each his/her own.

Anyone know if or when VZW will release the CUrve 8330 in Red?

I am a bit tired of the silver thing, and although black would be great, VZW will never go black beacuse of Sprint, but RED would be a nice change….

Well, it is now listed as “coming soon” to Sprint on blackbery.com

I swore I would never re-up with Sprint - but looks like they will have me for another 2 years. I can’t wait to get this thing.

If anyone spots it on the Sprint web site, please post!

Sprint now has a link to sign up for notification when the Curve is available:

    http://delivery.sprint.com/m/p/nxt/dyn/reg.asp?promo=curve&id9=vanity:curve

Hope it is okay to post links here. Just delete if not.

And for all those claiming the Curve pics were fakes, - WRONG. Check out the link. Exactly as presented by BGR.

I wasn’t questioning the credibility of BG. I just noticed the wrong dates and ran with the April Fools thing. I am sure the VZW is real because of the silly silver color. I will soon be sporting that one because my two years is almost up, and I am still using the 8703e.

8330 - ok, I currntly hav an 8100, hich is fine. But I’ve dropped it on to mny times and need to upgrade. I love the way the curve looks and feels, but AT&T only has the 8310. The 8330 is exactly what I want - what to do? I guess if new phone is really coming out soon, i can stick with my broken Pearl a few more weeks - but I need info!
Things I love about my Pearl - ColorPearl, Instant Msg with other BB users, camera, file storage, Opera Mini.
Things I don’t like - can’t play the 3GP files from Pearl 8130 friends, no video available, its slow, stalls when opening pics, etc.
I hear the 8330 solvs all my probs but if AT&T doesn’t support it, what do I do?

Sprint fanboy here. I also don’t understand how Sprint sucks. For $30 on Sprint SERO you get 500 minutes, unlimited data/web surfing, unlimited text, picture mail. 7PM n&w, Sprint TV and great web radio, localized weather, traffic, GPS enabled live search, and many phones can tether to a laptop by data cable or bluetooth. Who needs DSL/cable when you can get broadband speeds off the phone for $30?

I travel extensively and have had a signal all over Wyoming, Nebraska Idaho, Colo, S Dakota, Georgia and Florida, It is weak in northern Vermont, NH, Maine, and parts of my home state RI.

The only advantage Verizon has is better signal generally, especially in northern New England, otherwise Sprint knocks it out of the water for value.( I won’t even mention the also ran of AT&T.)

Sprint stores are getting the 8330 on 4/21 according to the store I called on Friday.

A note on ATT vs. Sprint… I’ve been with ATT since is was PacBell (way before the Cingular age). Since ATT took over my service has continued to get worse and more frustrating. It’s a bummer, but I have to move on.

Has anyone else gone to http://www.sprint.com/curve to get the actual notification release?

UPDATE to the Update - According to engadget ( http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/04/19/sprint-sez-blackberry-curve-8330-still-on-track-for-this-month/ ) and confirmed by a Level 2 Blackberry tech with Sprint, “The Blackberry Curve 8330 in Dark Grey, is due to come out this month, not in May or June as Previously reported.”
So instead of my thumbs churning out email after email on my new Curve, they’re twiddling and running into eachother on my Brickberry 7100i. MAN I can’t wait for this phone! -
BG, if you’re in a giving mood, I’ll take a pre-release demo to tide me over.
