Just had a conversation with a Rogers CSR. I was just making a billing inquiry and at the end of the call the CSR said to me, “by the way your account is elligible for a hardware upgrade” I said to him that I would be interested in an upgrade as soon as a 3G blackberry was released on Rogers. I expected no response. However he said to me that their current information is that the Blackberry 9000 should be released on Rogers in July. I was shocked. but thats what he said.

Don’t forget everyone. This will be the only 3g blackberry available with simultaneous voice and data! Verizon and Sprint is EVDO(Evolution Data Only/Optimized. Tether away and ditch the internet card at $60 per month.

Note to 3G device manufactures and carriers:

Since it’s known that 3G is a powerhungry process, why not keep the device camped on gprs until such time as 3G is needed. As an example, gprs is perfectly fine for background e-mail, but when the user goes into the browser, then switch to 3G which then gives the user full speed, plus ability to take call at the same time. Or if the user starts to make a call, switch to 3G so that e-mail can still get through. But for the majority of the time that the handset is idle, stay on gprs(2g).

Did any else see that BGR was mentioned this morning on cnbc? It happened at 7:50 am in New York and they were talking about RIM and had a consultant from Chicago commenting and he said that you could find good information regarding the new Blackberry 9000 on boygeniusreport.com!!!!!

Yeah the 3g iPhone would be great but it still lacks gps which I do use on a regular basis. I also cannot use an iPhone where I live only a BB will work also I experienced terrible battery life from the iPhone and returned it after two days of use and went back to my 8820. Is it common to get six hours of battery on the iPhone? Not my experience and I charged it fully before I every turned it on… Also the iPhones email interface es muy mal. BB9000 all the way.

BGR, comparing the iPhone to BB9000 which is still not on the market is just lame.

Compare the iPhone to the Curve, if you really want to. Furthermore compare the iPhone to the E90, then we can all have a good laugh.

IMHO we just have to wait and see what this BB9000 turns out to be like.

Yeah my Curve lasts me like a day and a half, sometimes longer without being charged up again.. Thats where Berry’s excel!

My 8700 last all day without a charge. Usually has 10 percent left by the time I get home. Thats running jivetalk,heavy internet use,low email use. Two hours is horrible and would not work.

Here’s how i see it: if the phone has 3G, who cares about WiFi? It’ll be close enough in speed you won’t really need it for what you’ll use your phone for. 3G will be fast enough that you can do just about anything on it that you can save precious battery by never turning it on.

Oh, and let’s be honest about battery life; you’re recharging it pretty much every night regardless of use, so why whine about the fact you’ll get it down to 0-1 bar of battery by day’s end or still have 1-2?

I love BB’s, and this looks like a solid phone once they get the kinks ironed out. But on the real…I’m burned out on BB’s everywhere I turn now everyone has a damn curve or pearl! Teenagers, old folks,housewives, bum mu’ fuckas…everyone! Most people I know with a curve don’t even have a BB Connect plan. I gotta give it to RIM. Ever since they came out with the trackball light ppl have been hypnotized!

I have had enough of Rim releasing one one item at a time on each device…One camera, one wifi, one GPS…etc…and to top it off they still have not released a ph to combat the iphone. The only thing Rim has is a great email device. I have the 8320 and I will leave once and for all as soon as the 3g IPhone comes out. BG, any idea if the June date is correct on the 3g IPhone?

You are right! Somehow through all the new models of the Blackberry it is getting nicer looking, more features, etc and now it has a battery life that is silly for a business phone. The older Blackberrys were brilliant BECAUSE the battery lasted so long. With exchange coming to the iPhone…goodbye RIM!

The 9000 is a sharp looking device..has awesome features etc…all except that key pad, that’s the ONLY thing I have against it…everyone is speaking about a possible launch on AT&T…BUT from previous pictures we know at some point it time it will hit vodafone as well as rogers…or was it just the fact that the testing of the device is used on the rogers network since RIM has a centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada…as for battery life, RIM will work it out, the 4.5 OS has the same affliction on the NON 3G bb, it seems to me it’s the OS causing the problem and not the device it’s self..

Interesting information. I will volunteer for testing…..;-) We all chomp at the bit right now…..then we will for the next one after this is released. It seems that RIM is taking a little from the microsoft book in that the more hardware advances the more they evolve their OS the larger it gets, negative the hardware advantage! Guess we will wait and see….
