blackerry 9000 is worth the wait, its basically the ultimate web, email, gps…ultimate electronic device you must have.

definitely worth the wait, but like everyone else im dyin, rumors are relase 3rd quarter 2008, so hopefully august

July/August? Really? I mean I need a new phone now and to hear that I have to wait a month and a half makes me just want to buy another phone. It’s disapointing though because from the talk it appears to be a good phone. I just dont know if it’s worth waiting that long for.

The iPhone is not even a good comparison to the 9000 (or any other Blackberry for that matter) as it is a pretty slick CONSUMER oriented phone that is not built for business use. The Blackberry phones are built for business users that want real keyboard and better email sync capabilities, etc. The iPhone might grab a lot of consumers away from RIM but I would never want to type thousands of emails on a touch screen keyboard…

I totally agree with sudsboi84. RIM spend so much time into the RnD and putting together a solid product before they ship it out. PPL just want their new feature without worrying about the stability or battery life. For those who talk on the phone alot, battery life is very important, I would rather wait till they get that right.

Remember their primary target is still the CORP world. Would they rush a new line of product out just so they can please the consumer end ppl? I don’t think so. Also RIM rebranded the 88×0 and 83×0 series to add WIFI and GPS for a very good reason. They first get a solid product working (and out to consumer) then add extra features one by one, this way they would be able to figure out what needs to be improved and if there are issues its caused by the new component. This way they can come out with a reliable phone that has less bugs. This is why apple will have a long way to go before they catch up to RIM.

oh and for the iphone ppl, go and use one of their keyboard to send off a 500word email. good luck to u guys. I was at an apple store trying to use the iphone to check a website, every 3 letter I type I had to erase. Ended up going to one of the laptop instead.

Anyway I’m holding out till they come out with the BB9000.

I’ve loved all my Blackberries, really I have, but this might be the end of it. I’m willing to give up a feature or two to stay with BB, but if THIS is the best they can do, it may be time to go. All I really want is a decent browser. That’s it, nothing fancy. If the BB can’t do it, and the iPhone’s push email works well, I may have to (reluctantly) jump ship.:(

I miss my pocket pc after getting the pearl 8130… the RIM OS is horrible and RIM will have some serious issues now that every1 else has push email… what a horrible OS, and there will be no point in getting the 9000 series when the new OS will be released for every device

I think it’s really funny how people like to bash RIM and BlackBerry. The thing they don’t realise is how complex their systems are and how much work go into their systems. When they release a product it’s usually 100% reliable and VERY sturdy unlike so many other companies that rush out and release flawed products. Also if I ever did have a problem I know that they would fix it right away as their customer support is the best support organization that I’ve ever had to deal with. As far as iPhone Exchange support obviously people don’t realize that the total cost for 500 users on BlackBerry is about $40k as compared to about $140k for MS Direct Push. Now that’s just for the back end systems. The cost of an iPhone is much more. Also people don’t realize is that the BlackBerry solution was built from the ground up as a messaging and data solution and not a patch job like its competition. The BlackBerry solution also has over 300 intergrated IT security solutions and is capable of fully encrypting all data on the BlackBerry smartphone and fully remote wiping along with other high security policies like require password input and CAC readers. The BlackBerry solution also compresses the data much more than any competition thus reducing data over head on the networks and increasing battery life. This increased compression will be even more noticible once 3G comes out. People who say that they don’t need to care or don’t worry about security just think of how much information someone could get from your device if they where able to intercept your private conversations and gain access to your personal information.

I can’t wait for a new BB to be released! I am totally loyal to RIM, so there is no chance of me jumping ship, I just think they need to get their game together and get these devices out!
But, it’s true about the 8800 keyboard. It’s not that good. 8700 was better and the 8300 is better.
But here’s hoping…..

I agree, they can keep it if that’s the design. Plus, I’ve had it with their consistent lack of interest or care about Mac users and a solid software interface that really works. I’ve waited 3 years…time to move on!

Thats pretty strange, why BlackBerry 9000 get delayed when they already had prototype in their hands start of this year. Probably BlackBerry 9000 will lose some customers.

Your comment about the hefty price tag is what I’m thinking about to. I’m definitely getting the VZW Curve but I’m also going to try the 9000 when released by at&t. That would be great if the screen quality is going to be as good as you say. That was my only complaint about the different Curve models. The screen quality didn’t seem as good as the 8800 series.

I guess from the looks of it, my only complaint about the 9000 so far is the keyboard. It looks like the 8830/Moto Q9m (VZW-comparison) and it operates like it then that will be disappointing for me.

Totally unexciting design. I am MUCH more excited about the Curve hitting Verizon than this design! The keyboard looks like a nightmare. Cannot wait to dump by Pearl (and that SureType invention from hell) for a Curve.

One of the above posters said they would switch to ATT. DON”T DO IT! I did it for the Curve and while I LOVED the phone, the reception from ATT was aweful and I had about 5 dropped calls a day (compared to Verizon). I live in San Diego, not in the boonies. Stay with Verizon and have patience until the Curve arrives.
