You might have remembered our detailed coverage of Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard a few months back. Our Motorola Q9 with Wi-Fi came with it, and we’ve just received a new Motorola Q9 with Wi-Fi, and it’s got some updated Windows Mobile 6.1 goodies in it! Here’s a quick breakdown of the new features:
- Support for AT&T’s Video Share
- New thumbnail browsing
- New Albums feature
- Send to your space (upload to your Windows Live account)
- Updated camera UI
- Updated home screen (more music and multimedia features)
- TV out
While the new added enhancements aren’t groundbreaking by any means, it does give us a nice look at how Windows Mobile 6.1 is turning out. Hit the gallery for the screen shots!

Is this the newest version of the Q that is supposed to come out next week?

Most of the 6.1 features have been out for a while. I think the most notable change is in PIE with support for zoom out and better scaling of web pages.

I’ve had this on my BlackJack I for a bit over a month now. Yes, the tweaks are few and don’t seem like it’s much, but the responsiveness of 6.1 is so much better than it’s predecessors. Threaded messaging is great and again, a small change, but a much appreciated one. As far as the zoom support for IE, I think I will stick with my Opera Mini.

PIE inst all that much better, don’t get me wrong it is an improvement, but Opera 9.5 is so much better, awesome in fact.
WM6.1 does seem better in every way, great inclusion of a full Task Manager, and lots of other little extras, plus its also abit faster, which is a nice bonus.

Can’t wait for a Q9 or Q10 with WM6.1 and WiFi. The Q9h is a great device even without Wifi but will be just about perfect with it.

@Hacktor,
Are you talking about 6.1 on your Blackjack or Blackjack II?
If it is the first BJ, can you hook me up?
I’ve been looking for a way to bring the life back to my BJ.

when it is out you will find it here:

don’t believe me?
check this:

if you are using opera browser place it into your quick pages or what ever when you start the3 browser and make it refresh every 30 seconds, so you’ll be one of the first to get it.
btw at&t sucks for not putting this out sooner, it was used as the testing device for wm6.1 hmm.. maybe it worked too well?

I just saw the demo at my local AT&T office and love the look and feel. My question is does the wifi work on any wireless system? Is the wifi just like built in wifi on laptops?
