50mb is absolutely nothing. I use my At&T 60.00 wireless data plan only when I go home to my parent’s house who have no way of getting on line. I am there for only 2-3 days and hardly use it at all. In those three days I used 355 mb. So, if I wanted to change my plan from the 5120 mb plan for 60.00 to the next plan under of 50mb for 40.00 I would have used 305 more mb than allowed in just 3 days at .19 cents a mb making my montly bill for that month 40.00 + 58.95 overage charge for a grand total of 98.95. It makes no sense to me at all why a company would charge 40.00 for 50mb and 60.00 for 5120 mb. It doesn’t leave you much choice as to which one you must choose.

I know I may sound stupid, but I’m not sure just HOW much data 50MB is. For instance, I am NOT dependent on my laptop, but I do the bill paying and checking the emails. I occasionally download music and look at youtube if I get sent an email about it. So, is 50mb enough for me? I guess you could call me the “soccer mom” that was spoken of recently! Thnks for any info you can supply!

Funny how I pay 5.99usd monthly for unlimited EGPRS data on tmo. Has anybody been reminded of the fact that verizon also limits their data speeds? By the way, I’ll soon be paying the very same for unlimited UMTS data, so why exactly is this news?

bah i blow through 50 mb in 5 minutes, thats why i use cable, evdo data is not a viable replacement for me except to tether my laptop on vacation and to tether my nokia n800 and have internet on my lunch break.

lol OVERAGE charges? I had a Sprint card for 14 months & always went over 5GB & NEVER had overage charges OR my service interrupted.I had Verizon before that & never had that problem either. If its a question of language & legaleeze I am sorry but 5GB does NOT equal unlimited. They truly are not the same thing. I personally think that the consumer & of course the business customer are TRULY getting the shaft of this one & its going up the WRONG HOLE.

Yea, i understand that, technically it wasn’t unlimited, it was capped at 5GB, verizon just took the word “unlimited” off and showed it for what it really was, and they put a $0.49 overage charge at the end of it, so people CAN exceed the 5GB allowance without getting there service interrupted, but with the 39.99 plan, i was just stating it was basically for people who NEED web access but aren’t dependent on it.

@Markis, I am sorry mate, but the unlimited plans are GONE. Go to the websites for Verizon, AT&T, & Sprint & look through their laptop connect cards. They are ALL now charging 60.00 for the 5GB plans!! That is NOT unlimited! I could quite easily go through that measly offering in 15 days easily as much as I travel & the WI-FI in hotels sucks & Airports cost you an arm & four legs! As anyone can tell I am not happy about this. & NEITHER are the corporate IT people I talk to on a daily basis!!! I hope cricket works out a deal to expand to some other carriers because trust they WILL be picking up new subscribers even if its just for their aircard service!!!

the unlimited plan has always been 59.99, this plan launched on March 2nd, the fact is the 50mb plan is not for “always browsing the web users” its for soccer moms or people who want to just go online to check there bills and pay them or get some movie times briefly, and for 39.99 on Rev-A, id say that isnt too bad.

Funny, when the Cricket information first came up, I mentioned this to everyone here & asked if people KNEW that the big 3 had all setup these decreased data offerings & that the unlimited ones are NO LONGER OFFERED. Look on their websites if you don’t believe me lol!!!

That is a terrible plan! I am in now way a spokes person for AT&T here, in fact I think the voice quality and coverage is spotty at best (especially the HSDPA coverage). BUT I just got my ATT bill and I burned through almost 190MB last month with moderate but not heavy use and my unlimited data plan is only $35! I have been tethering with the awesome WMWiFiRouter this month so I expect the usage to double… I don’t want to know how much that would be on VZ!

This is old news…and bad news…not good news.

Before March 2nd you could get 5GB for 45.99…now for $5 less you get only 50mb. The 5GB plan is now 59.99.

So data got more expensive…not less. Come on BGR….you should have spotted this.
